Enter the Wild West in The Kid's Hideout, a 23-foot Airstream decorated as Robert Redford's Airstream in Utah while he was shooting Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The Western décor features period leather arm chairs, a Native American drum table, wainscoting, pressed tin, rope trim and burlap curtains. Modern amenities include a flatscreen HDTV and radio. In a very cozy sleeping alcove is a queen-size bed surrounded by pillows, which is perfect for an individual or couple (no hide-a-bed). The private bath, with toilet, sink & shower, is stocked with big, fluffy towels and Eco Sciences biodegradable toiletries. The complete kitchen features a refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, glasses and flatware - everything you need. Out on the private deck, which offers a view of the Escalante mountains, there's a propane barbecue grill, with a separate individual burner, for your cooking needs (there isn't a stove/oven in the Airstream). All Airstreams have AC & heat.
The resort property is about 17 acres. Besides the Airstreams, there is also an outdoor movie theatre and a Snack Shack where you can buy all your favorites such as popcorn, candy and soda to make your movie experience even more enjoyable.
2nd level above office is a private residence (including deck area) and we would appreciate all guests respecting their privacy.
Interaction with guests
We live onsite and enjoy meeting guests and then having the guests leave as friends.
Other things to note
Outdoor movies are only shown on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays (weather permitting). Let us know if you would like to reserve a 1960s classic car for $20 to watch the movie from.
We have Wi-Fi, but it is only available around the office, not at the individual Airstreams.
PLEASE NOTE: Please respect our check in window of 4 to 7 p.m. MT. You will need to find other accommodations if you know you will not be able to arrive until 9 p.m. or later.
Smoking is not allowed in the Airstream. Guests must properly dispose of all cigarette/cigar butts, etc.
This is a pet-friendly Airstream for fun-loving, non-aggressive pets only; one pet maximum; $15 pet fee per stay.
Please remember that these Airstreams are lightweight machines for temporary living. The hardware and accessories are nowhere near as strong as those in your home, so please be gentle. Do not allow children or adults to swing on doors, jump up & down on furniture, slam doors, force open windows, etc. If something does not work for you, please let us know and we will be glad to help you.
Meet Troy and Michelle, owners of the Shooting Star RV Resort. Our love of outdoor activities and the desire to be more rural is what lead us to start this new chapter in our lives with the purchase of the Shooting Star RV Resort in Escalante, Utah. We just can't get enough of the spectacular beauty of the west. Troy has been in Utah the majority is his life (an avid skier) while Michelle is originally from a small town in Illinois. Troy's favorite hobbies are skiing, dirt bike riding, and motorcycle riding. Michelle's favorite hobbies are motorcycle riding (wants to explore anywhere and everywhere), camping, and cooking/baking. We are passionate about animals...currently we have a Labradoodle named Luna and a Terrier-mix named Felix. A farm with alpacas, cows or bison, chickens, etc. would be fabulous one day.
We are both excited and nervous about being small business owners, but we see so much potential here. This area along the scenic highway 12 is absolutely breathtaking so we hope people come from all over the world to stay with us and experience what we get to wake up to every day. Life is really too short...everyone should take the time to stop and smell the roses.
