The space

Dive into Bogie’s Boathouse, which was Humphrey Bogart’s retreat during the filming of Key Largo with Lauren Bacall where he tangles with a ruthless gangster during a hurricane. The décor of the 30-foot Airstream features a couch, which is also a hide-a-bed, wooden blinds, and a flat screen HDTV. The full-sized bedroom is appointed with luxurious bedding. The private bath, with toilet, sink & shower, is stocked with big, fluffy towels and Eco Sciences biodegradable toiletries. Bogie's kitchen is complete with a refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffee maker, and stocked with everything you need - cookware, dishes, glasses and flatware. Out on the private deck, which offers a view of the Escalante mountains, there's a propane barbecue grill, with a separate individual burner, for your cooking needs (there isn't a stove/oven in the Airstream). All Airstreams have AC & heat.

For your comfort, this Airstream accommodates up to a maximum of 3 people (best for 2 adults or 2 adults/1 child, but not recommended for 3 adults).

Guest access

The resort property is about 17 acres. Besides the Airstreams, there is also an outdoor movie theatre and a Snack Shack where you can buy all your favorites such as popcorn, candy and soda to make your movie experience even more enjoyable.

2nd level above office is a private residence (including deck area) and we would appreciate all guests respecting their privacy.

Interaction with guests

We live onsite and enjoy meeting guests and then having the guests leave as friends.

Other things to note

Outdoor movies are only shown on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays (weather permitting). Let us know if you would like to reserve a 1960s classic car for $20 to watch the movie from.

We have Wi-Fi, but it is only available around the office, not at the individual Airstreams.

Very nice set up with the deck and picnic table. Inside the airstream was a very nice coffeemaker and sink. We thought we would be able to cook some eggs in the morning and found out there is only the bar-b-que outside. Other than that, a comfy, quiet stay that was easy to check into and nice to know the owner was on-site.

Shooting Star is a gem in the desert. Troy and Michelle have done an amazing job with this place and a very helpful. Bogie's Boathouse was in shipshape as was the entire RV park. The drive in movie was very fun in a classic car. Shooting Star is the perfect place to explore the Canyons of the Escalante by day and return to your classic airstream to enjoy your favorite beverage as the sun goes down. My kids give it a thumbs up too.

The Shooting Star RV Resort is a very cool and unique experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Bogie's Boathouse Airstream trailer, with its private deck, Adirondack chairs, and BBQ. We couldn't get the TV to work, but the rest of the trailer's amenities were in good working order. The property offered a very quiet and beautiful setting. We totally LOVED watching American Graffiti in the privacy of a convertible with the top up, heater, and the sound, wired through the car's radio was great. We ended up making the tough decision to not stay the 3rd of three nights we reserved, so that we could spread the drive back to Vegas over two days, we asked the hosts if they'd be willing to refund all or a portion of the fee for the 3rd night, but they claimed they could not because it was booked via Airbnb. That said, we arrived two hours after their preferred 7pm checkin time, and Troy was very understanding and accommodating.

Staying here was definitely a highlight in our two week trip. Troy and Michelle's place is a must if you're visiting areas around Bryce Canyon or driving highway 12. Themed airstreams and a proper drive-in. You can watch old movies whilst sitting in vintage cars as the stars above look down.

Meet Troy and Michelle, owners of the Shooting Star RV Resort. Our love of outdoor activities and the desire to be more rural is what lead us to start this new chapter in our lives with the purchase of the Shooting Star RV Resort in Escalante, Utah. We just can't get enough of the spectacular beauty of the west. Troy has been in Utah the majority is his life (an avid skier) while Michelle is originally from a small town in Illinois. Troy's favorite hobbies are skiing, dirt bike riding, and motorcycle riding. Michelle's favorite hobbies are motorcycle riding (wants to explore anywhere and everywhere), camping, and cooking/baking. We are passionate about animals...currently we have a Labradoodle named Luna and a Terrier-mix named Felix. A farm with alpacas, cows or bison, chickens, etc. would be fabulous one day.

We are both excited and nervous about being small business owners, but we see so much potential here. This area along the scenic highway 12 is absolutely breathtaking so we hope people come from all over the world to stay with us and experience what we get to wake up to every day. Life is really too short...everyone should take the time to stop and smell the roses.
