ECO-FRIENDLY / ORGANIC / RURAL
The Attic is a cosy, self contained studio designed to help you relax and unwind - curling up by the wood burning stove or enjoying the rural views from the wood fired hot tub in the garden. It is also a great base for exploring and adventuring.
We provide a simple breakfast (vegan/GF available) in The Attic kitchen.
We are passionate about providing an eco-friendly experience for you - organic and locally sourced items wherever possible.

The space
The Attic is a self contained studio within Aikenhead House - a unique country house and small-holding 3 miles from Blairgowrie. A perfect romantic, peaceful getaway.
The Attic has a super kingsize bed (or two single beds), seating area, woodburning stove, kitchen and upstairs loo with additional private shower facilities downstairs.
There is a wood fired hot tub in the garden that guests can use. We need 24 hours notice to get it hot and ready for you - so are unable to have the hot tub available for your first night due to guest turnaround and cleaning protocols.
Views from The Attic to both the east and west allow you to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. As it is a converted attic there are areas where the roof height is restricted (max. 2m/6ft7inch). The staircase up to The Attic are steep so care needs to be taken when on the steps.

Guest access
Guests will have access to The Attic, boot room, kit and equipment washing areas and a drying room.
They are also welcome to wander round the small-holding (but please shut gates if you visit the animals!).
We have additional accommodation for larger parties if required - with a large sitting room and dining room to use together - please contact us for more information.

Other things to note
Dogs are welcome and can stay in The Attic or in the boot room downstairs (max.2 dogs).
We ask you to keep dogs off the furniture. A cage is available to use if requested.
Dogs MUST be kept on a lead outside as we have free range chickens and other animals.
We ask for dogs not to be left unattended in The Attic. There is a supplement of £10 per dog per stay to cover additional cleaning costs to allow a deep clean to be carried out which allows future guests with allergies to also enjoy their stay.
Please check with us before you feed anything to the animals - they do enjoy treats but the wrong type of food could make them ill.
Wifi is available but we have a fair use policy. We do have stacks of DVD's and a laptop if you wish to watch an oldie but goodie film!
A basket of firewood is provided complimentary. Additional baskets are £10.
The hot tub is wood fired and the first use is included. Firewood for additional uses are charged at £10 per wheelbarrow.

Location

Blairgowrie and Rattray, Scotland, United Kingdom

We are in a rural location. Blairgowrie is our local town (3 miles away) and you can find local shops plus a Sainsburys and Tesco. Dunkeld is also close (8 miles) and is a very pretty town with a historic cathedral and great cafes.
We can provide maps for local scenic drives, walks, cycles and can recommend the best places to picnic etc.
Aikenhead House is a great base to explore Perthshire, Angus and The Glens, The Cairngorms National Park, Aviemore, Fife, day trips to Edinburgh and Glasgow plus many local lochs, castles and distilleries.
We are 40 minutes from the Glenshee Ski range.

We are a married couple who love nature, real food, getting outside to enjoy the countryside, our animals (Dogs, cats, chickens, horses, goat & occasional sheep - we are very animal friendly!) On holiday we like to mainly relax, explore and disconnect. We do enjoy the odd night in a city for a quick break - but prefer a quiet rural location for a longer holiday. We do not party, get drunk or make a lot of noise! We are also hosts - The Attic at Aikenhead House
