Our overall experience at Coles Landing was great and we would recommend this accommodation to friends and family. Our reservation was accurate. Upon arrival Hazel and Doug were not available for the “check-in” process but they made sure a neighbor (Jayme) was there to show us the ins and outs of the property. The process was timely and efficient and Jayme was knowledgeable and courteous. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable especially the apartment where my husband and I stayed. Although not secluded, the owners live on the property and are close in proximity to where we stayed, it still felt very private. The “shop” was more than adequate for our 4 children giving them their own separate area to hang out. It had the fun feature of a completely screened in bay door that the kids could open in the evenings when it cooled off to let in sounds and views that made it feel more like camping. In the shop, there were 4 foldout couches/futons all with clean and comfortable bedding set out for the couches to be made up when needed (with our kids the couches were made into beds and stayed that way until we left). The shop had a mini-fridge, storage, games and even a wood stove for a fall/winter stay which we will most likely come back and take advantage of. There is a very nice bathhouse within feet of the shop with a well-equipped restroom and shower that we had our kids use so that my husband and I could make use of the bathroom in the apartment. The apartment was completely stocked with everything you could need, except for food. Including a fully stocked kitchen. The bed is amazing, there are 2 TV’s a couch and full-size appliances including a new washer and dryer. There is a thermostat for the apartment, the air-conditioning was nice and cold and although we didn’t use it I’m sure the heating is just as nice. Hazel and Doug are reliable and friendly. They were knowledgeable and fully answered our questions about the area. We visited with them on their deck with a glass of wine while getting to know them better. They are an environmentally conscious couple. Recycling options are clearly listed and readily available for use. Hazel and Doug have several options available to accommodate almost any lodging requirement you might have. All the options are very clean, stocked and well organized. We were able to check out all the options while we were there. We got the impression one could have a large family reunion there and have plenty of places for everyone to stay. Or if you would prefer a romantic getaway, they have a newly finished master suite in the lower level of their home, equipped with a full-size garden tub and a breathtaking view of the river. We brought groceries and cooked most of our meals on the barbecue and ate alfresco although there is a very nice oven inside...

Hi Akura, thank you for the great words! We do look forward to your next visit! We plan to be in Spokane August 4, and will be taking Hershey to meet him Mom (we are grandparents, remember) in Ritzville and I have an eye apt when we return on the north side of Spokane at 2:00 p.m. Think about a good place we could meet, OK? and give a call. I think you have the number, right? Thank you again, Hazel

Only positive things to offer here. First and foremost, Hazel and Doug are amazing hosts. The private suite is beautiful and was perfect for our family with two small children - all bases covered, all details thought of... Hazel and Doug went out of their way to make our visit comfortable and fun, including toys/entertainment for our little guys, a boat ride and a campfire for our kids first smores experience! Location is wonderful, peaceful and scenic. Truly, pictures and words do not do the accomdations or the hosts full justice. A must see! We'll be back!

Doug and Hazel made us feel like family and had potato soup waiting for us when we arrived well after midnight and tired from a long day of travel. The cottage worked out wonderfully and Doug and Hazel made every effort to make sure we had everything we needed. They have done an excellent job with their property and the view from the cottage was spectacular with the mountains in view. We are looking forward to returning as soon as possible! We would recommend Doug and Hazel's place to any and all.

We unfortunately had to cancel our reservation the day we were supposed to arrive due to all the fires around Washington. Doug and Hazel were incredibly kind and understanding. They quickly fixed the situation, and got us a refund on our stay. My fiancé and I sincerely look forward to coming to stay with them at a later point in time. Thank you Doug and Hazel!

From the moment we arrived Hazel and Doug were the perfect hosts. The apartment was stocked with everything you could possibly need and if you forgot something - we just asked. The setting was perfect for our three kids to explore and our sons caught their first fish on the dock. We thoroughly enjoyed unplugging from our busy lives and enjoyed the quiet serenity of this beautiful place! Thank you for a fun and fabulous 3 days on the river!

Doug and Hazel were very helpful with directions to their home, and the place was exactly as described. It was cozy and inviting, and we were offered more than enough toiletries and supplies to be comfortable for our stay. They offered to help us bring our bags in and gave us recommendations for local attractions. You would feel right at home with them. The area is beautiful. The water was warm and moving slowly, so we were able to enjoy a leisurely float. This location is near lots of little state parks; there are plenty of things to explore. We were just looking to enjoy some time away from the city, and this was a great opportunity. It was peaceful, quiet and relaxing. We saw a lot of local wildlife- turkeys, deer, hawks, little woodland critters. There are tiny towns surrounding the area, each with its own character and charm. This area was a really interesting place to visit, and we felt very welcomed with Doug and Hazel.

We are a retired couple building our dream home on the Pend Oreille River in extreme northeast Washington State on the Pend Oreille River. We both enjoy the solitude/remoteness/wildlife and weather of this area.

My work experience has been Automotive, Real Estate and Engineering/Cad Design and my wife's experience was Accounting, US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife and Duck's Unlimited.

In the last 10 years we have developed a beautiful river front property with our home, a large storage building with I bedroom apartment, a bath house, a Dock and (3) RV Hookups. We would like to make the apartment and extra living/sleeping area, bath house and dock/mooring available to rent through AirBnB.

The amenities here are fishing, hunting, golfing, boating, swimming, skiing/snowboarding and viewing the wildlife.

We will look forward to your having a enjoyable experience.
