Our modern, cozy and bright home is surrounded by lawn, gardens and forest. Relax on the front porch, go for walks in the woods, or visit nearby lakes and rivers. Visit charming towns. Build a campfire under the stars. Hike, bike or swim nearby.

The space

Bright, spacious and open. Wide front porch, beautiful gardens, screened in porch. Plenty of places to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. Many places nearby to enjoy the great outdoors, whether you paddle, ride, swim, hike, or just want to relax. 90 minutes to the Maine coast and city of Portland.

Guest access

Access to public beaches minutes from home. Plenty of area hikes from beginner to more advanced terrain on the Appalachian Trail.

Interaction with guests

I'm happy to answer questions about the place before renting. I'd be available by cellphone during the rental if there were problems. And I would leave a note about places to visit and things to do while here.

Other things to note

The house comfortably sleeps 6. Any more than that would need to bring an air mattress.
There is no dryer. There is a high efficiency washer and a clothes line for drying.
There's no cable but there is a Smart tv and high speed internet/wifi.

My family and I just spent five days in Martha, Jesper, Emma and Max's house. Five days was'nt enough. There is so much beauty for your eyes and calmness for your mind that my wife and I kept saying to eachother that this is the way life should be. Only a few minutes away there is lakes to swim in and hikes to climb. It was paradise for our daugther on four. We can strongly recommend this place. You NOT only get a beautiful house, but also surroundings that are hard to find anywhere else.

We are grateful to Martha, Jesper and their children for sharing their wonderful house with us. We spent two idyllic weeks there. The house itself is lovely to live in: thoughtful, creative, spacious in just the right way with care in every detail. We often ate dinner (with freshly picked greens and garlic scapes from the garden) at the ample table in the screened "woodshed," and lunch outside under a tree. Our little boy loved running around on the grass and playing in the kids' playhouse down the path from the main house. This was a perfect place as a base for exploration: the White Mountains are a short drive away, as is the Mohoosuc Land Trust with its trails, swimming holes and waterfalls. We also enjoyed the many lakes close by, and evening walks on the sparsely traveled roads. We would recommend this place heartily to anyone seeking tranquility or natural explorations.

I'm a teacher and my husband builds houses. We have two kids and we built our home together. We love being outdoors and living close to nature, which is why we live where we do. My home is my sanctuary. It's where I get away from it all. You can see the stars at night and listen to the birds in the morning. I like to drink my morning coffee on the front porch.
The four of us are going on a month-long cross country camping trip this summer so I thought it would be nice to rent out the house while we're gone.
I think our house would be great for a group of friends who want quality time together or for a family--especially one with kids.
