Our charming flat has an English feel. Books, music, film library, netflix streaming and wifi connection. Fabulous comfy beds in two rooms, sleep three. Gourmet kitchen. Short walk to hip Nopa or elegant Fillmore. Buses near. Parking on street easy.

The space

Our well appointed flat in Lower Pacific Heights is lovely and comfy enough to stay in as long as you desire. The beds are extremely nice to sleep in and the abundance of chairs and couches for lounging in with one of the films or books from the shelves may make it hard to want to leave though there is a fabulous, fascinating city awaiting you. You may want to cook in our gourmet kitchen but don't forget about the world class food in restaurants within blocks. The dining table is really meant for four people. An extra one or two will be a real squeeze.

To the north the apartment looks out through a very elegant, old tree onto the exclusive California Tennis Club. To the south we face a lovely, leafy backyard from which you can pick lemons (when in season) while eating breakfast on the porch. The high ceilings give our rooms an elegance and the decoration gives the apartment a charming English feeling. A writer and a photographer live here which means there is an abundance of books and art and music and movies to entertain you.

This is the middle apartment of three in an extremely quiet Victorian condominium building. The scale of each room is pleasantly large and discreet, each room can be closed off for privacy. Turning on the heat brings it into every room. Opening windows is enough to cool the apartment on hot days. (It is never humid in San Francisco.) There is a washer and dryer on the porch as well as a rack for air drying clothes. There is a pretty back yard that can be used but it is important to be respectful of the people whose ground floor apartment looks out onto it.

Two of us live here though we have children who come and stay. The guest room is very small and really best for one person though two do stay there. The apartment is large enough to accommodate six people for a short stay.

Guest access

The entire apartment will be yours which includes tempurpedic mattresses on two queen size beds and Egyptian cotton linens; cooking in a kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, French Press coffee making or Espresso Coffee maker, a larder stocked with basic baking materials, spices, a table for four or eating on the porch overlooking the garden. There is a large screen television with a library of dvds and premium cable and streaming netflix. There is a film library, an art library and thousands of novels. There is wifi throughout the apartment. There are two offices where a computer can be hooked up to Comcast cable. There will be an Apple laptop available for use by guests. There are a variety of comfy chairs and couches to relax on. There is plentiful hot water in the showers or for the tub.

Interaction with guests

Our housekeeper will greet you when you arrive, give you keys, show you the apartment, answer any questions you may have during your stay and he will clean up during an extended stay or after you leave on a short visit.

Other things to note

SLEEPING:
The master queen size bed sleeps two. The guest bed can also sleep two though it is a tiny room and is better for one. The tv room has two couches that can be used as single beds. Linens for this are in the chest.

There is NO SMOKING and NO PETS in the apartment. It is not a place for toddlers or babies. Food is best kept to the kitchen and the porch but if you spill wine or coffee or spaghetti sauce on the rugs or furniture we will leave you with cleaner that should be used immediately. Please be respectful of the neighbors as they will be to you which mostly means be thoughtful about how loudly you play the tv or music. If the bins get full while you are here, the garbage goes downstairs beside the front of the building.

Located in a quiet neighbourhood, this flat had all we needed and more. Spacious bedrooms, a cosy lounge, a great kitchen and veranda and heaps of character features. The welcome was really friendly and accommodating, as we arrived an hour later than initially planned, everything was explained perfectly in a little tour of the flat and all questions answered.

Response from Lucy:
Christian, I got a message today that my operating system on my computer needs updating which is why the wifi went weak while we were away. I am so sorry. I hope you and your lovely family had a good time in our pretty city and that you'll come again some day.

My Family and I spent a fantastisc week in SF. Lucy's apartment is just gorgeous. The flat became a Second ohne to us as we enjoyed the great kitchen, the balcony and the living room very much. Besides the location is really great. We would deffinitly come again and can highly recommend the place. Marshall also helped us with his valuable advice and contributed a lot to our great comfort level.

We had a very nice stay in San Francisco and the apartment responded in all aspects to our expectations. It is a nice neighbourhood (Filmore Street etc.) and quiet, and we found everything we needed for our short stay. It was nice to be able to read books, listen to some of your music, and have our "own" kitchen, so we could prepare something and didn't have to spend money on eating out every day S Frisco is relatively expensive compared to other cities). Also, we gradually learned how to use the buses (as you know, Europeans are more used to public transport than Americans).

Response from Lucy:
Bert, I understand you and your wife had quite a trek in Yosemite before you arrived here. I am very glad the apartment was relaxing for you after that. I know our city is expensive and I am glad we had some things to do in the apartment so you didn't always have to go out. I apologize about your experience on the Sutter bus and I will apprise future guests to take the Geary line. Thank you for telling me about that. Of course we would be delighted to have you again someday.

Lucy's apartment is just Gorgeous. You really feel like home. It is so far the best that we have ever rented. We have spent 4 beautiful days with my wife and our friends from Kentucky and we highly recommend Lucy's place. The environment is quiet, and the building is really well located. A must!

Response from Lucy:
Thank you Jean-Claude for being generous in all ways. I am so happy you enjoyed your stay. I love the shot glasses in the shape of camera lenses. Very welcome when we returned from our trip! And the book for guests to write in is so lovely. I treasure it. I should have thought of it but then it wouldn't mean as much. Thank you.

I am a photographer who is married to a writer. We love to walk in the Marin Headlands in the morning and to nearby restaurants to eat in the evening. We drink Blue Bottle coffee and eat too much Bi Rite Salted Caramel ice cream. Some of the books in our house and the photographs on the walls were either made by us or our friends.
