Croft House is one of three accommodation options available on Leob Croft, our organic 30 acre croft set on the shores of beautiful Loch Scridain. Refresh yourself, body and soul, in this peaceful, unspoiled landscape.
Croft House is a traditional stone house - historically the main house - with the addition of a timber extension at the front and a glorious conservatory at the back that catches the sun for much of the day.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, one twin room and one with a low double bed, to accommodate the low ceiling. The twin room has a balcony with stunning views of the Burg, Staffa and the sea beyond.
Downstairs is a kitchen/dining room with an electric cooker and a wood fuelled rayburn. There is a sitting room with wood burning stove and an additional single bedroom.
It is suitable for up to 5 people.
Decoration is simple with unpolished wooden floors and wood panelling in many of the rooms.
We use only 100% cotton sheets.
There is no TV and patchy mobile phone reception, meaning ample opportunity for relaxation.
You are welcome to stroll around the croft. We have pasture, woodland, wetland and access to the shore line. Feel free to say hello to Stella, the cow, and Everette the donkey. We also have chickens and grow our own organic vegetable and fruit.
Occasionally in the summer you can buy our homemade jams at the top of the drive on the main road - if there are any left!
Interaction with guests
We get pleasure from people who enjoy staying here and enjoying the peaceful and unspoiled surroundings. We feel that it is important to respect people's privacy but at the same time we are particularly keen to meet people who share our wide interests which include a spiritual quest and a love of the natural world. We ourselves our anthroposophists which is Christian and based on the work of Rudolf Steiner. My wife Ann has Parkinson disease and in the absence of any therapists near to hand we have developed our own therapeutic exercises including rhythmic work, eurythmy and singing. If there was any interest I would open to explore this further.
Other things to note
Please ensure that you plan your journey, in particular the ferry crossing from Oban to Craignure. Ferries do not run until late every day. You may need to book.
We live in a building just a few steps away from the Croft House.
Parking is usually by the gate with a short walk down the hill to Croft House. However, for unpacking you are welcome to bring your car down the hill.
All our holiday properties, as well as our own house, are situated relatively close together so quietness is appreciated.
Please treat Croft House well and leave it as you would wish to find it.
From Jun 29 - Aug 16, 2018 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
