Minutes from JCU University and Townsville Hospital. Easy ring road access. 2 Woolies nearby. Unparalleled panoramic views and breezes. Enjoy privacy: a room in a separate floor, with own fully equipped kitchenette, bathroom, toilet and laundry facility.

The space

The house is only four years old, so all is literally new. You'll enjoy your room and literally the whole floor, with a kitchenette, toilet, bathroom and a great deck surrounded by a beautiful garden.

Guests are welcome to cook their own meals in the kitchenette.

In general, we enjoy meeting new people, but we'll let our guests decide what and when. It all depends on the situation.

The neighborhood
Riverside Ridge is a relatively new neighbourhood. The neighbourhood borders with JCU university and is a couple of kilometres from major other amenities and shopping centres (Stockland, Meyer, Coles, and Target). There are two Woollies, one just across the bridge, less then 1 km away and another one at JCU university, about 1,5 km away.

Main Road Access
Guests and travellers can access the neighbourhood directly from the ring road, so you're only a few minutes drive to nearly everywhere. A drive to the CBD will take 15 minutes on the ring road. A drive from the airport will take 10 to 15 minutes. A taxi from the airport cost on average 30 dollars.

Guests are welcome to use our bicycles (one for ladies and another for men) during their stay. Helmets and locks are also included.

Our garden
We enjoy sharing our garden with guests. Guests are welcome to get fresh herbs like parsley, basil and rosemary from the garden.

We planted many natives in the garden to attract wildlife and the results are stunning. Being close to the outdoors, you’ll be viewing large flocks of cockatoos in the morning, and gigantic colonies of fruit bats flying westward to their feeding grounds. At the same time, you shouldn't be surprised to encounter kangaroos and wallabies roaming the neighborhood early morning and at dusk.

Recycling is a way of life for us. We recycle absolutely everything. All food leftovers are recycled for compost using Bokashi fermentation and worm farm methods, which in turn fertilize our garden. We supply guests with a special collection container and they too participate in the process.

Walking trails
Tonwsville Mountain Bike Trails Reserve is just minutes away from us. The reserve features 30 km of trails meandering the hills surrounding our neighborhood. It’s a joy to walk and the views are breathtaking.

NOTE: We feature two rooms on Airbnb. The rooms are identically equipped and are located on the same floor. Copy and paste for more details: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/3629907

Guest access

Guests have free access to the garden and covered deck, where they can find chairs and tables.

Guests are welcome to use our washing machine and ironing board if needed.

Guests may also use our bicycles (one for ladies and another for males) to commute during their stay. The bicycles come with helmets and locks

Interaction with guests

We respect our guests' privacy, but we'll be happy to interact assist with information and other requests.

Other things to note

We feature two rooms on airbnb. The rooms are identically equipped and are located on the same floor, which is ideal for a company of four guests. Copy and paste for more details: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/3629907

I've now stayed at Asher's place a couple of times whilst studying at JCU and it's great! Everything you need, reasonable space and close to the uni (and hospital) as well as the riverway precinct with a few shops or for exercise.

Asher has a lovely house at the top of a hill with brilliant views over Townsville. Teebo, their adorable dog, makes the stay great fun. The house was walking distance from JCU and the bus stops. The rooms were very comfortable and Asher was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The veranda is a lovely place to sit and have breakfast with a view! Would definitely recommend Asher's house - especially if you need to work at JCU.

Asher's place is extremely nice, with a fantastic view on top of the hill! Supermarket is close by (15 minutes leisurely walk), and the kitchenette is fully equipped! Would definitely recommend! PS: the dogs are adorable.

A wonderful place to stay. Gorgeous house, comfortable bed, and a breezy open verandah with views out over the garden and the beautiful sunset- a great place to sit and enjoy a drink after a long day! Very friendly and helpful hosts, who kindly arranged a bike with lock and helmet so I could get to and from the University. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to explore Townsville, and especially for those visiting the university as it is just a short bike ride/walk away.

My wife Ellen and I live in a house we've always dreamed about. A veranda all around, views and sunsets, gentle breezes and an enchanting garden, that's all we ever wanted. Ellen is a Senior lecturer at JCU and I work from home and own a couple of Internet based businesses. I'm in charge of the shopping and cooking. I'm a bit of a health freak, so home-cooked meals, fresh salads flavoured with herbs from the garden are served daily. Now that our children have left there's plenty of space to host interesting people with whom to share our great house.
