Our home (a working farm) and The Cottages at are nestled beneath Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil. We are situated on the famous Kerry Way walking route and in the heart of the Reeks District. The collection of houses were some of the last in Ireland to be connected to the electricity grid (in 1978) due to their isolated location in one of Ireland’s most unspoiled valleys on the edge of the Killarney National Park.

The space
A converted stone farm building with open plan design. The Cottage boasts a neat kitchen and shower-room (shower big enough for for two!), a living area with peat burning open fire and a galleried double bedroom accessed by a custom built staircase.  There is also a double sofa bed downstairs for you to fall asleep by the fire if you wish. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a trip with a friend or come and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet all to yourself.

We provide a basic welcome pack of homemade soda bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee, and also first nights firewood and starter pack.

The original buildings date back to the early 1800's but have been renovated to a high standard using local materials and in keeping with the traditional cottage style. The cottage is located on our 1200acre farmland including a private lake. Guests are free to roam the landscape at their leisure.

There are 3 other cottages onsite but your accommodation has its own private access, parking and garden space so privacy is ensured.

Guest access
The cottage is entirely yours for the time you are here, As are the hills, rivers, fields and lake for you to explore. You have complete freedom to roam but please do be cautious of the mountains if you are not so familiar with this type of terrain and bring appropriate footwear for hiking. I encourage guests to spend time outdoors in nature and connect to themselves and the landscape. The only areas which are not available for guests to explore our the farm sheds. This is for safety reasons.

The journey to get you here will take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery Ireland has to offer. You can choose to arrive via the famous Gap of Dunloe or the equally as beautiful Ladies View/Molls gap road.

There is a small shop 5 miles away next to the Church, which offers basic food supplies but we advise that you buy any shopping at one of the nearest towns before arrival to avoid unnecessary travel and to make the most of your stay. The nearest bar and restaurant, Kate Kearney's Cottage is 10 miles away and offers traditional food and live entertainment. We are 7 miles from the Killarney National Park and Lord Brandon's Cottage, where you can avail of their cafe, boat/horse-riding trips and picturesque walks.

The cottages are situated in the Reeks District with many popular hiking trails and was recently listed as one of the top places to visit in the world by Rough Guides. We recommend you book a professional guide if you are not familiar with mountain terrain. You can also book kayaking and rock climbing day trips in the area.

While the charming the towns of Killarney and Kenmare are about 50 minutes drive away, our location and accommodation are more suited to those who are keen to truly 'get away from it all'.

I've grown up on the farm after moving here with my family in 1997. As such i'm someone with a great love of nature and the simple pleasures in life. As well as letting the cottages I am also a performing artist working mainly in Contemporary dance, film and theatre. I have been practicing Yoga for the past 10 years and trained in India to be a teacher. I love traveling myself and the insight different cultures and people give to life. I dream big and like to encourage the unique potential in the individual. I have a passion for wellness practices that make us feel better in ourselves and in our daily lives. I've been working towards getting the cottages ready to welcome visitors for the past few years now and am very happy to finally be in the position to do so.

During your stay
Our family live in a separate cottage on the property. Although the cottages are rented on a self catering basis there will be someone onsite most of the time if you need any assistance during your stay. The keys for the cottage are in a lock box so check in and check out aren't dependent on whether we are onsite. If you need to arrive early or depart late we can look after your luggage for you on prior arrangement.
