The space
The Carriage House at Bowser by the Sea is the perfect place to put your feet up and read a good book...or write one.

It's the place to bring your camera and a pocket full of empty SD cards.

It's the place to access your adventurous spirit with your hiking boots, kayak or compass.

It's the place to bring your sketchbook and a fist full of drawing pencils.

It's the place to visit with your girlfriends, your family, or that couple you always have so much fun with. It's the place for meaningful conversation, belly laughs and board games. Or it's the place to enjoy your own good company.

Centrally located, it's the place to call home base and take day trips to explore the other parts of the Island. It's the place to stroll the shoreline in either direction to contemplate how things are going, and make plans for what's next.

Whatever it is that allows you to catch your breath, there's something rather magical about the west coast - and in particular - about spending time on the shores of the Salish Sea.

Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves during a winter storm, and the spirited bark of the sea lions in the spring when the herring arrive. Wake up to the comforting sound of the loon in the fall, and the eagles calling from the trees above you any time of year.

And summer...well everything is just a little more magical in the summer. From the mighty squawk of the heron as it glides through the air, to cruise ships sailing past in the distance, to the sound of pleasure boats motoring past in search of 'the big one', to the crackle of the beach fire as the sun quietly sets. And these are just the west coast treats for your ears. We haven't even mentioned the feast for your eyes, like the spicy hues that fill the sky at sunrise, or the sea life to discover during low tide.

When you arrive to the Carriage House the first to greet you will be the Orca artistically carved into the shingles. Climb the staircase to the Carriage House and you'll quickly discover that you'll be nestled under a 600 year old eagle tree. We hope you remember to bring your camera, there is a lot of eagle activity up there.

...and this is my husband Gary! Time, and time again, people visit Bowser and fall so madly in love with the area that they're compelled to relocate to this beautiful west coast community. We had that same feeling and moved our young family to Bowser fourteen years ago, except for us it was more like returning than relocating. Our children, now grown, are the fourth generation to live in Bowser. We come from a long line of local business owners who've helped to shape the history of this wonderful little seaside village. Gary's grandfather built the hardware store, now known as Bowser Builder's Supply, in the 1950's, and his parents established and ran a popular fishing resort just a short walk down the beach for thirty years. We're thrilled you'd like to come and visit Bowser for yourself, but we warn you...you might not want to leave! Cheers, Gary and Lauri
