My family of 4 adults & a toddler child stayed at Johan & Alica's beautiful home for one week. Their communication and preparation was exceptional: even though they were on holiday themselves, everything had been arranged for our stay, including a warm welcome from their neighbor! There was an extremely detailed guide of instructions and local recommendations which we found very helpful. The home itself is immaculate and fully furnished as you'd expect from a loving home. The home has a total of 3 stories with steep stairs (at least for American standards), so we kept our elderly and young loved ones on the 2nd floor. The modern Scandanavian decor is refreshing, if not a little Spartan. There were beautiful fresh flowers throughout the home that made everything warm & inviting. We needed a crib and high chair for my son and they actually went through the trouble of buying a new chair just for us, since their children are much older. They provided fresh, brand-new linens for us, albeit for a small extra fee--not a problem. The kitchen was well-appointed and we were able to cook with ease. We ended up only sharing one shower among our whole group because we couldn't get the upstairs shower working. Everybody slept comfortably and overall the home proved to be a good stay. The location is fantastic: close to virtually everything you would need for a short- or extended stay. They even provided their bikes for our family to use, which we used daily. Their Haarlem neighborhood is safe and pleasant, as we ended up meeting new friends at a nearby park they recommended. Overall, the location and comfort of the home helped make our week-long trip a lovely experience. I would recommend the home for a short- or long-term stay for couples, groups & families alike. Thank you Johan & Alica for your hospitality!

Johan and Alicia De Vries house was very nice and surpassed our expectations. We were a party of 6 adults and there was plenty of space for us. Our host greeted us with flowers and wine (my wifes birthday) a very kind and generous gesture which we had not expected. Very apreciated. Haarlem is a like a small Amsterdam with lots of canals and water, a lovely city. And the sea is on biking distance thru the dunes, very pleasent. We thank Johan and Alicia for hosting us and can warmly recommend there house to other guests :) Lars-Åke & Åsa Granath

The house worked out very well for our extended family: 3 young adults, 4 older adults, and 1 little girl. And we were joined by a 9th person for part of our 1-week stay. There were enough beds and ample space for everyone. We had a rental car, but the train station was only a 20 min walk, and the supermarket even closer. It was especially nice to be in a quiet residential area where we could pretend to be locals! The de Vries family made us feel very welcome, surprising us with a special treat for the only child in our group. We appreciated being able to borrow their bicycles, and loved the elegant yet practical decor of the house. All in all a lovely house and great experience.

Perfect choice for a wonderful vacation! This is a truly great place if you are looking for a great Netherland experience between the coast line and Amsterdam. Haarlem is the perfectly sized city, the house conveniently located near the center and just 5 minutes away with the bicycles that belong to the house. Johan and his family were very friendly, helpful and super easy to communicate with. The house is exactly as described and feels even better once you have moved in, tastefully decorated with all amenities one can think of. A must see and must return place :-)
