Wake to the sounds, sights and aroma of nature. A loved family cabin, breathtaking scenic views and a real Maine Coast experience. High above the rocky coast. Expansive deck. Gorgeous reflective sunsets and direct sun from morning to night.

The space

Directly facing the primary navigable channel heading to the Atlantic Ocean this location has a commanding view. View the sunset reflection in the village of Pemaquid homes. The night sky? None more beautiful. The air you breathe is fresh and clean.

The Cabin design brings in the outside with many windows and, with an open floor plan, it is a welcoming and fun place to hang your hat.

2 bedrooms.
Bayside bedroom with floor to ceiling windows is a dream space particularly with the doors left open to let in the ocean sounds and sense of the wind. Queen bed.

Landside bedroom with bunk bed with a full bed bottom bed and twin top bunk. There is also a 2nd twin. Sleeping 4 in this second bedroom but clearly you need to be close family or friends. Also an option of pullout love seat in living room.

Fireplace, books, games (should you spend a night in!). Wireless. No television.

Moon over John's Bay is, arguably, the greatest show on earth. If you are inspired by the natural world - this is your space.

Kitchen: all amenities to cook but we hand wash dishes.

If you are boaters and are towing a boat there is parking for your tow package a walk away. Public boat launch is in South Bristol.

Spring and Fall guests who wish to fire in the fireplace we provide the fatwood, firewood and paper. The cottage is not heated but the solar gain during the day on the deck in spring and fall is great. Space heaters are provided for evening.

If you have questions about any resources or activities please let us know...we would be happy to answer your questions.

Guest access

Maine style 'beach' ...a rocky coast with a pebbly beach that includes a swim dock. Maine waters are chilly but the Cove water is generally warmer (but still brisk).
Footpaths abound on this peninsula and there are others that head to the town and beyond.

Kayaks are available for rental and can be delivered.

Interaction with guests

Family members are nearby during your stay. Privacy is valued, and, as needed we can communicate with you during your stay or we can all just go about our beautiful Maine days during your stay. It is our goal for you to have the Maine Coast experience you desire.

Other things to note

Historic sites abound. The area was a center for boat building, Pemaquid Lighthouse, Fort William Henry and the freshest lobster on the planet.
Damariscotta is a wonderful town. We love King Eiders Pub but there is an assortment of restaurants and retail stores to visit.

Free parking on premises

House Rules
No smoking

This is a serene, nature oriented location.
This is a private home that is beloved (and a most coveted living placement even within the family!). We provide linens and towels and the kitchen is set up but your living food is best packed in en route as the big grocery store in Damariscotta (also a great place to spend some time....) as you travel to our end of the peninsula.

If you would be so kind as to strip beds and place towels in the blue carry basket - we would be grateful!

We want you to love the area and enjoy your stay.

Dave and Betsy's place was exactly the beautiful, relaxing vacation that we needed! The views are amazing and we were lucky enough to see a bald eagle our first evening! The full moon over John's Bay is one of the prettiest sights ever (it literally looks like diamonds sparkling in the water!). Dave was an excellent host with lots of tips about the area and we got a beautiful boat ride to watch the sunset which was icing on the cake. The cabin itself is rustic but comfortable with no cell service and spotty WIFI so you really do feel pretty disconnected (which is what we needed!). The location is great - cute restaurants on the water close by with fresh seafood (lobsters and oysters are the best!) and a 20 minute drive to Damariscotta with more restaurant options. We enjoyed Damariscotta Fresh Fish (seafood market), Riverside Butcher Co., and Rising Tide Community Market (grocery store focusing on local/organic/natural food and with a nice wine/beer selection) for breakfast goodies and the nights we wanted to stay in and cook. We also went to Newcastle and Boothbay to visit a couple of breweries which was an easy drive. Be sure to check out the Pemaquid Lighthouse which is very close - gorgeous views of the rocky Maine coast and one of the only lighthouses that you can go up in. We planned on doing more excursions but the views from the house and cute local things held us hostage and we relaxed on the deck more than we anticipated. :) We did go to Acadia for a day trip (about 2.5 hours away) which was amazing and highly recommended! We had our dogchild with us and he loved hiking and playing with Gus the Adventure Dog who came to visit us from the main house a couple of times. :) Do bring tick spray with you because we found several on our little guy. Overall we highly recommend this cabin and plan on coming back to visit again!

We just spent a quick overnight, but would come back! Beautiful spot, perched up on the rocks. We spent a lovely evening on the deck, rounded out the night playing cards, and woke to a spectacular orange-pink sunrise.

We LOVED our week here. Listening to the waves crash as we fell asleep, rocking on the porch in the morning with a coffee, and sitting on the rocks at the waters edge. All of it was perfect magic vacation heaven. Dave is a kind and generous, easy to communicate with, host. And the stocked fridge we arrived to was pretty fabulous too. We will definitely be returning.

The view is AMAZING. We hit all popular spots in Maine, but this was definitely the most beautiful. There is a small path that leads down to a cliff with an even more amazing view. We consider this more of a cabin. It has a kitchen with fridge and oven, but it's a bit rough around the edges. During our stay we encountered a few spiders, pill bugs and a mouse. Not deal breakers, just set your expectations. The cabin is super quiet. At night we could hear the waves, the wind whipping through the trees and see the stars. If your looking to disconnect/slow down from your busy work schedules. This place is perfect.

Exactly what I hoped for during my visit to Maine. Gorgeous views and a charming cabin. Great under the blue sky and sun and when the rain keeps you inside. Close to town but also far enough away to feel like you're truly on a break. Dave was so helpful-tips and a warm welcome that made my stay memorable.
