The Art Studio is truly a get away. The 200 year old beams give the place a comfortable and rustic feel. The functionality of the Murphy bed gives the small space room for meals or working or doing jumping jacks. The kitchen has the basics. A leather armchair makes a nice place to relax

The studio is on Cypress Creek: sunning, swimming, and kayaking are definitely on the agenda. Downtown Wimberley is only minutes away as are wineries, breweries and Jacobs Well.

The space
The art studio has its own entrance and a covered porch for relaxing and looking out through a grove of pecan trees towards the Cypress Creek. Keep your eyes open for river otters, blue herons, ducks, geese, turtles, turkey, deer, fish and other fauna. Summer time is the best time for this. If you walk down to the creek you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful view of the creek from the stone landing. It is a great place to sit, get some sun, wade in the creek or go for a swim. We don’t have fishing gear but feel free to bring yours. You can also kayak; there are two kayaks for your use. There is a hammock overlooking the creek ready for you when you need your nap. A two-person swing overlooking the creek is a perfect place for enjoying your morning coffee or an early evening glass of wine.
The art studio is outfitted with a queen sized Murphy bed, a kitchenette, and a three-quarter bathroom. The kitchen is equipped so that you can fix some basic meals. The studio is attached to another guesthouse (which has its own private entrance and parking). Our house is also on the same four-acre property so you might occasionally see us. Let us know if you need anything.
During drought the creek flow may slow to a near stop.

Where you’ll be

Wimberley, Texas, United States

There is a rum distillery just up Jacobs Well Road, 1 mile from us. They encourage you to sit on their deck and enjoy their rum. Of course, we are just downstream from Jacobs Well where Cypress Creek originates from the Trinity Aquifer. The park entrance is 4 miles away. Due to its popularity and for preservation of its unique ecology, reservations are required. It is suggested that you make reservations in advance. The Wimberley Valley Winery is 5 miles away. In addition to wine tastings: in the summer you can enjoy their wine slushies while sitting under the oaks within sight of their donkeys and longhorns. If you need to get your run in (sigh…) there is a granite running trail on Winters Mill Parkway only 2 miles away (you need to drive there) It extends from the intersection of Winters Mill Parkway and Ranch Road 12 into downtown Wimberley.
The studio is 3.5 miles from the center of the village of Wimberley which is on the Blanco River and Cypress Creek. Wimberley has a good selection of shops, restaurants, art galleries, a zip line, and some food trucks. You can access the Blanco River through 7A Ranch and rent from them whatever you need to enjoy the river. Blue Hole is a park on Cypress Creek that provides the opportunity for public swimming among majestic ancient cypress trees.
The studio is also a great base for many half day and day trips. There are lots of wineries, distilleries, charming towns and parks in the area. You can take a wine tour and be chauffeured from winery to winery. There is also a dance hall and outdoor beer garden (with great views) just up Ranch Road 12. Wimberley Glass Works is between Wimberley and San Marcos and glass blowing demonstrations are scheduled regularly.
