Our 1840 home has a separate carriage house originally used for a horse and carriage now a 1,000 s.f. apartment. Freshly remodeled, the downstairs has a living room, dining area, kitchen, half bath with washer/dryer, and a deck with table, chairs, umbrella and new Weber gas grill. Upstairs, a large elegant bedroom features a four-poster bed, sitting area, reading nook/twin bed, writing desk and a bathroom with shower. We’re taking extra care to clean your space following CDC Cleaning Guidelines.

The space
Imagine sitting at the dining room table by a 10 foot long hand-painted mural of Coast Guard Beach, one of our famous beaches close by. In the living room there’s a sofa bed, chairs and a television. Google Wifi supplies fast internet. A half bath on the first floor provides a washer and dryer. The kitchen is well equipped and we’ve tried to think of everything you may need. If we’ve forgotten something, we’re just around the corner of the house. Just off the kitchen is an inviting deck with table and chairs, umbrella, and new Weber gas grill in a garden setting.

Upstairs the large and stunning room offers an elegant and comfortable four-poster queen bed. A beautiful old leather-topped writing desk which well might serve as the birthplace of a fine new novel. Or perhaps you should crawl into the reading nook to pen a poem. We encourage guests to explore their creativity — write, paint, play music and just relax and enjoy this space. This getaway has been created with love and attention to detail so that your stay will be a pure delight.

Guest access
If you’d like to join us in the garden, we’d enjoy getting to know you and helping you plan your visit. Depending on the progress of the fight against Covid19, we may have to observe social distance. We often like to gather for tea or a glass of wine in the garden or on the screened porch.

Other things to note
Super fast internet.

Eastham, Massachusetts, United States

We are located 5 minutes from the Cape Cod National Seashore headquarters and Coast Guard Beach on the Atlantic side plus many beaches on the bay side. The Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path is 5 minutes away and bicycle rentals abound. The towns of Orleans, Wellfleet, Brewster and Chatham are within 5 to 20 minutes. Richly cultural Provincetown is 40 minutes from our home. We always suggest walking at the Fort Hill Area which is a 5 minute drive from our house and one of the prettiest walks on the Cape. Nickerson State Park is 10 minutes away and offers bike trails, beautiful ponds and walks through the forest.

We live in an 1840s Greek Revival home near the headquarters of the National Seashore. Jo Leal is an artist working mainly in oils and loves to garden, be outdoors and cook. John is a retired professor from England and he plays oboe and cello. We enjoy hearing music played live and our favorite place to go is France which John loves because he tries to keep up his French. We enjoy a proper cup of English tea in the morning after a walk along the beach. We enjoy getting to know our guests over an afternoon tea or in the evening with a glass of wine. We have made many new friends around the world through AIRBNB and it suits us to a tee.

During your stay
We are retired and at home a good part of the time. We've lived here 28 years and know Cape Cod and the Islands well. You'll almost always be greeted by us and settled in with lots of information on our area. It is also possible for self-checkin using a code of your choice. We enjoy helping our guests make plans for their activities during their stay. You will find an extensive guide book that we’ve put together offering lots of suggestions of restaurants and activities. If you’d like to join us for tea or wine or need information about some aspect of the Cape, we are usually available.
