Freostay is an urban village with three dwellings. The perfect gathering place for large families, sport or work teams accommodating up to 16 guests in all three. The houses are simple and natural with beautiful gardens creating peace and privacy.

The space

Two houses, and a studio, connected by beautiful garden paths, and the Shebeen area which is there for all to use. It is an urban village built especially to accommodate guests. The houses are solid, simple and natural. Facilities are all of good quality and the curved adobe walls create peace and privacy with established gardens giving a country feel.

Guest access

Fully self-contained houses, laundry with all requirements, parking for vehicles, beautiful gardens, and the Shebeen, a communal gathering place housing its own outdoor kitchen as well.

Interaction with guests

Not at all unless we are asked, we offer childcare and advise, and also specialised breakfasts prepared in the Shebeen upon request.

Other things to note

Kitchens are designed to COOK in...there are large pots, cookers, spices and basics provided for big shared meals.
Our gardens are beautiful and there are lovely shady places to relax in Summer... and for folk visiting from sterile city environments...yes, here in Australia, with gardens you get insects!

Great place just outside Fremantle but within driving and walking distance to the great places. Spacious houses and comfortable living and resting areas.

Janey was absolutely fantastic... a very welcoming host who provided us with a tour of the place when we got there and made sure we were all comfortable. The property was great for our roller derby team as it had three houses on the property which kept us in close vicinity of each other. The Shebeen is a great communal area where we came together for all sorts of things. We were very impressed with the property and it's decor .. it was like being in Africa. Thanks Janey for making our trip to Perth an enjoyable one .. we would highly recommend the accommodation who wants to be close to Fremantle and yet feel like they're in another country!

Janey was quick to respond, very accommodating and a lovely person to talk to. There were 10 of us that stayed at Freostay and therefore we had both beautiful cottages (Kottaj and Kraal) and the Shebeen outdoor entertaining areas to ourselves and plenty more space to spare. The space was so relaxing and peaceful it was hard for us to leave and go exploring, but when we did - Fremantle city centre was only a short 5min drive away. Janey and Michael have created a place with an African inspired feel with plenty of day beds and private relaxation spots around the garden to enjoy. We will definitely be back when we return to Freo from QLD!! Thanks guys!!

Great house! We had 13 adults and 3 children under 3 there and it worked perfectly for us all. Property was clean with great amenities. Would easily stay there again.

We loved staying at Freostay. It's in a great street, not far from downtown Fremantle. The place was perfect for our extended family, especially the garden which the kids enjoyed. Would definitely recommend Freostay.

My life motto is that we live our lives in a simple and natural way...a big call these days, but we are are a stand for that. I enjoy the work of designing, managing and cleaning Freostay myself. Our water is heated and power generated by the sun, and grey water is used by our …
