Wonderful host; very knowledgeable about Oaxaca and environs! Charming apartment and a very Mexican open kitchen for all guests.

You absolutely must-stay at La Betulia! Here’s why: ROOMS/APARTMENT: My husband and I stayed in the apartment for one month. The apartment was beautiful, light, airy, and clean—and the rooms are too! It felt like living in a tree house. I loved the modern feel and the stone floor shower. Incredible! The entire bed and breakfast was peaceful and quiet. It’s a great place to relax. STAFF: The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Daniel helped us plan our day each morning over breakfast. He’s extremely knowledgeable about Oaxaca and has great recommendations for things to see, where to walk, best restaurants, tours, and more. The super-women who run the kitchen and clean the rooms are lovely and kind and do a fantastic job. LOCATION: La Betulia has a great location. It’s just a short 5-minute stroll to Santa Domingo and 10-minutes to the Zocolo. The neighborhood was safe, even at night. And there are tons of restaurant options (and a market) just a block away. BREAKFAST: The breakfast was delicious and unique every morning. Some of our favorite meals in all of Oaxaca were the breakfasts at La Betulia. Plus, you get a chance to chat with other guests to hear about their recommendations and travels. OVERALL: I rate La Betulia 10 out 10 and would definitely come back. It far exceeded my expectations. Enjoy your stay! Darcie

La Betulia, located away from busy streets just a few minute walk from Santo Domingo and downtown restaurants and attractions, was a major factor in our enjoyment of Oaxaca. The courtyard with its brightly colored outdoor kitchen and dining area provided the perfect setting for breakfast conversation with other guests and staff--definitely a highlight of each day. The breakfasts were incredible with their combination of fresh fruits, French press coffee, pastries and freshly prepared local dishes, hot off the grill. Carlos, Pia and Daniel were always available with helpful suggestions about how to enjoy Oaxaca, including arranging English speaking taxi drivers to take you out to surrounding villages markets and craft workshops. We stayed for a month in La Betulia's two bedroom apartment and felt like family by the time we left. Rosita, Juanita, Patricia, and Lorena, in addition to preparing wonderful breakfasts, kept everything spotless. We miss every one there and can not recommend this place highly enough.

La Betulia is a fabulous place to stay. My husband and I stayed one week in one of the nicely decorated, comfortable rooms and the following week in the apartment that is part of this lovely B&B. Our hosts were out or the country, which meant that we did not have the good fortunate to meet them, but that didn't stop them from giving us the best service possible. Carlos never missed a beat and responded immediately to any questions we had. The two women that take incredibly care of La Betulia, Rosa and Juanita, were a pleasure to get to know. Juanita makes the phenomenal breakfasts each morning and keeps your room perfectly cleaned. Rosa was there to answer any question, and even if you had no questions that day, she would check in with us to make sure all was going well. I highly recommend staying at La Betulia.

We have loved our stay at La Betulia. The place has a simple elegance and warmth of Rosa and Juanita has been great. Carlos was overseas but this not stop him and Pia being great hosts, organising tours and lessons and checking in via email etc to make sure everything went well for us. We would highly recommend La Betulia.

Pia and Carlos are amazingly warm and gracious hosts. We had a great pre-stay communication, clarifying everything and assuring us that we would enjoy our stay. And when we met them in person, they were even kinder than we imagined! We met them several times throughout each day--they live right next door to the property. They took care of making sure we had a great breakfast everyday--speaking of which, they have the best crew of chefs--also very kind ladies who made tummy Oaxacan dishes everyday. They gave us restaurant suggestions and set us up with good drivers to take us on our day trips. La Betulia itself is a cute, designy B&B. It's in a quiet residential neighborhood and we loved the lovely light-filled apartment, the beautiful colors and homely courtyard. Pia and Carlos has left nice little touches throughout the apartment--we had milk, eggs, fruit, veggies, chocolate, coffee etc. stocked in the apartment upon arrival. They also left us restaurant recommendations and a lonely planet to use while there. Our girls looked forward to seeing them every morning. Pia even gave them little drawings to color :) We will definitely be recommending La Betulia to all our friends wishing to visit Oaxaca. Thanks Pia and Carlos for an amazing stay! We would love to see you in our home town some day! xo

We walked through the gate into the lovely La Betulia courtyard and felt like we were home. It is a beautiful, modern B&B located in a quiet, safe neighborhood within easy walking distance to all the attractions that Oaxaca has to offer. The hosts, Pia and Carlos, are outstanding! Their attention to detail and caring manner, checking in with each guest at breakfast to see what was planned for the day, offering suggestions or helping with whatever was needed was so special. The delicious and substantial breakfasts – prepared by the Dani, Juanita, Paola and Feli – were a highlight and introduction to the food for which Oaxaca is known. Upon returning at the end of the day, Rosa was there to greet us and welcome us “home”. Sometimes she was cooking so we got a preview of what was being planned for our breakfast the next morning. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning soon.
