Exceptional check-in experience

Recent guests gave the check-in process a 5-star rating.
The Yurt at Wai Rua, west of Whangarei, is approximately 20 minutes drive from Kamo via Pipiwai Road. It is set in a beautiful tranquil farmland area beside a small lake, which is surrounded by native trees. Watch the native birds, ducks and pukekos whilst sitting on the deck. It has amazing rural views, including massive volcanic rocks. The yurt has a separate kitchen, with a small fridge and gas oven and 2hob burners. The bathroom has a hot water shower and composting toilet.

The space
There is all weather access for vehicles to drive to and park by the yurt. There is access to a salt water solar heated swimming pool which is closed over the winter months. There are gravel roads for walking or biking throughout the 80 acres on this property. Guests will be able to wander through the lovely garden and bush areas. They will also be able to meet the friendly pigs and hens. There is also a barbecue for further cooking. It also has some electricity from a solar panel. All windows have insect screens. For a winter retreat there is a fireplace in the fully wool insulated yurt, along with an external wood burning hot tub with a view of the lake which is set at a cost of $25.00 for the whole of your stay - this is paid in cash to the hosts. The cost is because it takes approximately 3 hours to get it hot and we also provide the fire wood. It is in great space where you can enjoy birdsong and the stars at night
Breakfast foods which are mostly organic and grown on the property will be provided as part of the stay. This is a smoke free venue

Guest access
The yurt is part of exquisite gardens and lakes, which are situated within a working farm. There is no access to any paddocks with cattle/horses in them. It is fully electric fenced. However you are welcome to walk or bike around the remainder of the property but please leave all gates shut or open as you find them. There are also many hazards which need to be respected in compliance with health and safety. There is very limited WiFi access. Guests also have access to a solar heated salt water swimming pool, which may be shared by other guests. This really is an off the grid experience.

Other things to note
This property is a 20 minute drive from supermarkets, a small township and cafes. We provide breakfast foods that you can cook and eat at your leisure; like home grown bacon and eggs. Bread to toast, cereal and yoghurt with jams and local honey. Don't be put off by Tremain Rd which is gravel. Pets (as much as we love animals) are not allowed on this property because it is a working farm. The yurt is off the grid so you cannot use power outlets although there is a usb point to charge your phone. There is limited cell phone availability by the yurt, but you can get coverage about 50 metres away. Wi Fi is extremely poor as this is off the grid. It is better to arrive in daylight.
