The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA.

This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.

If you can't find the dates that you're looking for, please take a look at our other listing - The Joshua Tree Casita:

Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country!

This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (

*Mattresses and Bedding by Casper*

There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.

Guest access

While you're staying here, the house will be your private oasis. Feel free to explore the yard (we are on 1.25 acres). Also make sure to enjoy the Jacuzzi and incredible views from the front porch during your stay!

Other things to note

Our driveway wraps around the back of house, so feel free to circle around the driveway rather than backing out.

This house has old plumbing and has a septic system. PLEASE do not flush anything other than toilet paper.

The second bedroom is detached, and is about a 10ft walk outside from the main house.

Transient Occupancy Tax - A 7% TOT tax required by San Bernardino County is included in the nightly rate. For our area, Airbnb does not yet break this down as an extra line item, but rather is included in the base price.

Sorry no pets, indoor smoking, photoshoots without prior approval, large parties/events, shooting guns, outdoor fires, fireworks or extra guests (past six people). Please also respect our neighbors and refrain from incredibly loud noises. If you're interested in doing a photoshoot at the house, please contact us for pricing.

You may alter your dates once up to 30 days prior to your stay. With less than 30 days advance notice, our cancellation policy will apply. Unfortunately, we make no exceptions to this rule.

We have a security camera overlooking the driveway on the corner of the garage. Joshua Tree is very safe, but we have this for added safety.

Please also treat the Joshua Trees with respect. Do not climb them or hang anything off of them since they are very old and fragile (in fact they are actually very large plants - not trees at all!)

We have the house professionally cleaned, but do please make sure your dishes are cleaned and that everything is in the general place that you found it on arrival. This helps keep our cleaning fee down. If dishes are left undone, an additional cleaning fee will be taken out of your security deposit.

When checking out, please make sure all doors are shut and locked, then put the key in the lockbox. If you forget to leave the key, we'll take a fee out of your security deposit.

Besides that, enjoy the house! We've put a lot of time and energy into making this a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Please be respectful of all of the furniture and accessories that we've lovingly collected. Everything in the house is very special to us.

Thanks so much and enjoy your stay!!

Dreams do come true! We adored our stay at The Joshua Tree House, gazing at sunsets from the hot tub, rising early for sunrise, touring and eating at many of the suggested local spots that were in the loveliest wee handmade book with plenty of other information, making our stay a breeze. Everything was perfect, and the house was so comfortable and welcoming it was hard to leave! Thank you Sara and Rich. We are already planning our next trip :)

Wow what a special place. Stunning yet cosy. Perfectly suited to the area, and a stone's throw from the national park and great vintage shops and places to eat. Thanks so much Sara and Rich, wish we could have stayed longer. Also make sure to check out The Saloon nearby for a drink, great food and live music.

Highly recommend staying here! We stayed with 5 adults and the house had plenty of room for us all. Check in was super easy. The spa in the backyard was warm upon arrival and was a lovely treat when the nights cooled off. Everyone raved about how comfortable the beds were! The only downside was the WiFi was a bit weak, but were able to stream the World Series well enough :)

So stylish and charming, great location just a 3 minute drive to cute diners and cafes and a close 20 minute drive to the entrance of the park. We were so comfortable during our stay (great mattress and linens, great smelling shampoo and body wash). The charming home, built in the 40’s has been so lovingly decorated. We would definitely stay here again! Joshua Tree is a very special place. Tip: make sure you check out Pioneertown as well when you visit!

This had everything we were looking for during our trip in Joshua Tree. I knew that upon arriving that this was the peaceful relaxing environment we were hoping for. The home is beautifully decorated and had all the amenities we were looking for. The jacuzzi was a dream and perfect for nighttime stargazing. Thanks Sara and Rich!

The joshua tree house is magical! Clean, well thought out and beautiful. My husband , best friend and 7 month old baby had a great time. The beds were so comfortable and the hot tub was a fun touch. When we arrived the wifi wasn't working and they worked with us immediately to get it fixed. Would def be back!

I don't think I've ever stayed in a more well-thought out and beautiful space. Sara and Rich were excellent hosts, as well as the person who handled our check-in and questions before the trip, Geneva. The swinging chairs and hammock were fun to decompress in and there's nothing better than sitting in the hot tub and looking at the stars at night (or watching the sunrise). I'm a huge coffee drinker so the small touch of the local Joshua Tree Coffee Co. beans was a nice morning treat. I highly recommend this place for a little retreat in the desert.

About Sara & Rich

It all began with a month long cross county road trip. We got in a routine of driving a few hours each morning, and spending the rest of the day hiking a National Park along the route.

It was our first time to Joshua Tree, and it felt different than all the rest. Something about this place pulled us in and stayed in our thoughts. Exactly one year later, we found ourselves looking to buy a home in Joshua Tree. As soon as we stepped foot onto the property of the Joshua Tree House we knew it was special, and the perfect place to share with others who needed to reset, reflect, and create.

After sharing our home and and hearing stories of friend weekends, engagements, and magical memories being made at the house, we couldn't help but design another space to share. We found and fell in love with the Joshua Tree Casita, and are so happy we get to share the intensely starry sky with you.
