Little apartment for 2/3 people, for spending some romantic time in the heart of Naples! Placed at the Petraio stairs, inside a private garden, 3 minutes far from the Funicolare Centrale, between Vomero quarter and Naples city centre.
We were late because of the ferry and arrived after 10 pm. Valeria's Mother welcome us very warmly! And Valeria answered very quickly to all our messages, she gave us precious informations about how to go to the appartment. The appartment is well located in a calm area, with a breathetaking view and a sweet garden. There is a lot of stairs to get there but until 10pm you can go directly thanks to the funicular. Valeria and her Mother were very helpful they let a lot of products against mosquitoes which are numerous in Napoli ! :) Thank you again for your kindness !
This is an amazing place. Great for a single or couple. I had a hard time leaving the garden and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, warm nights and great view. There are a lot of steps, as has been mentioned, walking either up to the great neighborhood Vomero, or down into the city, so I wouldn't recommend if you have difficulty walking. Had problems with the wifi connection but it didnt matter. What a gr fin Would definitely book again.
What a fantastic accommodation. If you are looking for a little oasis in the middle of a hair-raisingly busy city (and I live in NYC), you are looking at the right place. Not only is the private garden the apartment opens on to beautiful and creates a sense of serenity, Valeria's family--the only other family living in the complex--are warm, welcoming and helpful. The garden, where you can enjoy breakfast, also offers views of the bay and the Island of Capri. The accommodations themselves are simple and clean and the family provides cooking staples. My mother and I were traveling together when we stayed at Valeria's place and we enjoyed the wonders of Naples, but that sense of enjoyment was distinctly heightened by our interactions with Valeria's family and being able to escape to our private little apartment complex. As the listing says, the location also offers easy access to good restaurants and the center of town, as long as you are comfortable with walking. It is very straightforward and just under a 30 min walk away (it feels close and easy). That said, study a map of the area as you plan your trip. We didn't do this and never quite realized we didn't have the climb all the stair leading up from Corso Vittorio Emanuele (139 stairs!) to get in and out of the apartment. They do however, offer the easiest access to downtown.
The Secret Garden blew us away. Everything from the warm welcome to the picturesque view of Naples, the sea, and Capri island off in the distance was perfect. The room has everything needed for an extended stay and it's quite cozy. One warning: there are quite a few stairs to reach the apartment, but we considered it great exercise and didn't mind. We could not give a higher recommendation of the Secret Garden . If you're traveling to Naples, this is a must-stay. Thank you, Valeria, for everything!
The Secret Garden has been my home for the last month in Napoli, and was a brilliant place to be based. The stunning views from the garden make for a wonderful afternoon spent in the sun with a book. It's walking distance to Vomero, which has excellent restaurants, and walking distance to 2 different subway stations (Piazza Amadeo and Vanvitelli). For the apartment itself, the shower was amazing, and the kitchen was well equipped for some home made cooking. I can't recommend this lovely place enough!
Valeria gave us excellent directions for reaching the flat and we were met by her lovely mother and uncle. The garden is beautiful, the view from the terrace is hard to beat, and the apartment was secure (the whole neighbourhood felt very safe) and suited our purposes well. One issue we had was that the wifi connection inside the flat was not very reliable, perhaps because of the large metal doors to the flat. If you are relying solely on a web connection to plan your days, this could be a problem. Also worth mentioning is that the the doors to the kitchen and the bedroom open onto the garden, this is lovely but you also sacrifice some privacy if you want to let in natural light. We knew when we booked that the funicular wasn't working, but we were happy to walk up and down the hills and stairs and this didn't cause us any problems. All in all, we can easily recommend staying at the Secret Garden!
Before our arrival, we could count on Valeria for providing all the necessary information concerning our arrival by car such as where to leave it and car parks in the neighbourhood. All this information was useful and accurate. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Valeria's mother Emma, who's made us feel very at ease in the appartment as well as in the city. The appartment has a somewhat hidden but great location and its terrace a great orientation for breakfast or aperitivo. The casual Vomero neighbourhood just 'above' the apartment is a nice asset which otherwise might have been easily overlooked. The Secret Garden and Vomero are very agreeable to come home to after a day in the historic center or one of the islands. Warmly recommended.
