Hoatu Lodge rests quietly in the heart of lush Aotearoa bush. Our two dorms of bunk beds and two double guest rooms, are perfect for groups of friends, whanau, or retreats. A large commercial kitchen, open & spacious lounge area, fireplace, deck, and covered courtyard make up this space that's full of surprises. Walk along the awa, enjoy a bonfire at the firepit, walk up to the prayer hut for some peace or see local glowworms light up the bush.

The space
You are booking out the WHOLE LODGE. We do not book multiple groups on the same nights.

For 20-30 people, you can book for 1 or more nights. We charge $48 per person per night. We will send a special offer when we know how many people, as airbnb quotes only count the first 16. Our apologies for any confusion this may cause.

For 10-19 people, you can book for 2 or more nights. (Strict minimums of 10 people and 2 nights.)

We have two guest rooms; one with a double bed and one with a queen bed. Both are private rooms with their own separate heating. We also have bunks available that are in a shared space in groups of 2 bunks to a section. We are the perfect spot for large whanau or friend gatherings!

Fully self-catering facilities, but we provide tea and coffee. Please shop for food before arriving as the closest store is about 25 minutes away.

Guest access
Guests have access to the lodge lounge, commercial style kitchen, space for games and table tennis, bathrooms, and your living space. There are lots of trails to explore, and beautiful areas to walk. The glowworm trail is always a big hit!

The Caretaker's cottage and immediate surroundings along with the carport are private areas and we ask that you do not enter those areas, or take things from there, without permission.

Other things to note
Due to the limitations imposed on us by our provider, wifi will not be available. Our apologies for this unavoidable inconvenience.

Also, please note that we do not provide towels or toiletries.

What makes our place unique is that it is serene and peaceful with the Kaimai forest as our back yard - a great spot to come and relax. Our main neighbours are a herd of sheep that sometimes occupy the front paddocks. We are surrounded by lush, green, beautiful areas to explore all around us. It's a great hideaway! We are also close enough to town that it is easy to check out amazing sights in both Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, and Matamata. Centrally located yet away from the crowds makes for the perfect holiday hideaway.
