Spend a week in a rustic truly Canadian cottage on a beautiful quiet lake in the heart of Muskoka.
Our 3 bedroom cottage is on a big wooded lot with lots of lakefront, a sandy beach, dock and raft. Enjoy sunset and spectacular views inside and out.

The space

The cottage is simple but well maintained and tastefully decorated and has all the amenities for a comfortable relaxing stay. The living room/dining room is all windows that allow you to enjoy the beauty of the lake and the Muskoka landscape. There is a fully equipped kitchen. The indoor bathroom has a very basic shower and composting toilet. The outhouse and outdoor shower with spectacular lake views :)
Three sweet bedrooms (1 queen, 2 doubles). Comfortable seating areas to curl up with a book or magazine on a rainy day. A woodstove inside and a fire pit outside for cozy fires.

Guest access

Guests will have access to a propane BBQ, 2 canoes, outdoor furniture, water toys, TV/VCR/DVDs, board games and books.

Other things to note

The cottage is located on a small lake, excellent for swimming, canoeing and fishing. The sandy beach is ideal for children. The cottage is just off Hwy 169 which makes it convenient to access but may not offer the level remoteness and seclusion some are looking for. The neighbouring cottages are in fairly close proximity but they are kind, quiet and respectful of privacy.

Cottage on the lake with an excellent view. The sun sets right by the main windows so plenty of sunlight and sunset views in the evening. Cottage is 'rustic' with older décor, furnishings, and rooms but good enough for a getaway with the family. No wifi and older/small tv but probably better to stay off the screens. No heat in the main living room so had to make sure to use the fireplace for our stay in Oct. Overall, great experience, quick communictation with Nico and everything we needed was there.

Nico was a very gracious host, the listing perfectly reflects the accommodation and was a great base for a weekend exploring Muskoka. the cottage living area is spacious and the wood stove makes it cosy. Wish I could have stayed longer and made use of the outdoor shower!

We visited Nico's cottage the weeknd after labour day, and it was a beautiful time of year. Nico was a great host and answered all of our questions promptly and accurately. Thanks!!

My friends and I had a great time at the cottage! There was plenty of space inside (6 of us) for hanging out and eating meals. The deck and waterfront were beautiful in the warm sun and a perfect place to spend the last few days of summer.

I didn't get a chance to meet Nico but she was easy to communicate with and very friendly. It's a 'cottagy' cottage. Exactly the experience we were hoping to have. It's small but the layout is great and the views are awesome. The waterfront was by far the best part. Spent lots of time on the doc and the little kids played safely on the small beach area. Pretty sweet set up! Nico provides tons of toys and beach supplies that really come in handy. A close second to the waterfront and lake is the location which is super close to Bala with lots to do in the area. Just be sure to read the house instructions carefully. We didn't use the composting toilet correctly (hold for 3 seconds!) so it ran continuously. Nico was very responsive and helped me sort everything out in no time. We really enjoyed our stay!

The weather wasn't quite on our side for the weekend but that didn't stop us from having a great time! As posted and reviewed the water was perfect. And the cottage is perfectly situated for a quick run into town if need be. Its cozy and rustic with all the comforts of a cottage.

Nico's cottage was perfect! Definitely larger than it appeared from the outside, clean, very convenient, and it has a gorgeous waterfront. I was worried about the number of times the word "rustic" was used in reviews and such, but there wasn't any moment in which I felt like I was missing a comfort that another cottage would have (especially after hearing horror stories from people renting elsewhere). Communication was easy and clear, instructions were very specific so we weren't missing anything during our stay. It was ideal for us and certainly I'll consider renting this one again in the future.
