Wayan was most welcoming in all respects. He hooked us up on getting a scooter right away, provided laundry service, had some massage woman available and got a great massage. His warung (little restaurant) is very close. The food is good and we ended up there multiple times. The villa is new with amenities being added every day and the pool is refreshing. We took advantage of wanting to experience being with a local and learned wood-carving and we also learned about their village temple. Wayan made sure we were most comfortable and even got his friend to drive us out of town when uber cancelled. I highly recommend staying with Wayan for a feel of local culture in a peaceful spot.

This is a family house, you will see the every day life of the people living in this family from dogs barking early in the morning, to making offerings, praying, watching tv in the center family pagoda, kids playing ( two children a baby and a toddler) everyone smiles and all though only Wayan speaks English this is not a problem somehow you comunícate perfectly with everyone. My room had AC and was pretty nice I only missed a reading light but I told wayan and I think he will get one now. Wayan is a problem solver and very eager to help. We rented scooters and went to the swimming pool that is in his villa which is being constructed like a 10 min walk from the family house. You must walk there it is very nice and ask what bathroom to use before you get there is you are going alone. For me the best thing here was that I came alone and met very nice solo travelers like me. There is no supermarket near (so buy stuff at ubud coco market). There is a place across the street that also belongs to Wayans family where you can eat every day if you want for a good price and taste. I would definitely come back. This is a place to be calm, to walk around, to not shop and to get up early. If you like big breakfast get cereales and milk from town. The breakfast is very nice with traditional bali cakes but no fruit, bread or cereal (this is not a complaint I loved the every day changing home made things, I just need a bigger breakfast) no hot water showers but really not needed. Two bathrooms that you share with the other guests (there are 3-4 rooms here) you can shower outside if you like it inside. Hope you enjoy i did.

I really enjoyed staying at Wayan's place. Wayan and his family are super friendly and welcoming and care for the well-being of their guests. The room and the house are really beautiful and very clean. Moreover, he owns a small shop with delicious, nice foodies, where I went nearly every evening. Wayan had good recommendations for me and served as tour guide and driver all day. I had a great time and lots of fun and would definitely come back! See you soon, my friend ! :)

Hi, I'm Wayan Widnyana. I live in Kemenuh in East Ubud, with my family of wood carvers.

One interesting thing about me is that I worked for 8 years in the US as Japanese Chef! I am happy to be back with my family in Bali and with my beautiful new bride.

I have several different types of accommodation available, from private, luxury villas to rooms in my own home where you can experience the authentic Balinese way of life. Come learn wood carving and Balinese cooking with my family and help prepare for a Saraswati or Galungan ceremony with us. Or take a bicycle ride around our village to see the beautiful rice paddies and Petanu river. Definitely, you will leave with many cherished memories and new friends!
