This is a very charming house indeed in a wonderful medieval village located at the top of a mountain with wonderful views and a fascinating history, architectural details are a feast for the eyes. It is heartening to know that places like this still exist. It is definitely a moment suspended in time, away from the noise and chaos of the modern world and to enjoy the local culture and surrounding agriculture, truffles, wine, and olive oil. I think those things become more and more rare in today's world and that makes this place very special. Staying here is especially nice because the house is quiet, the tourists leave after dinner time and don't arrive until the afternoon, so if one gets up in the morning you have the village mostly for yourself. I could imagine this being a wonderful place for a writer to settle down and focus, which is what I would've loved to do, except for the fact that I was with two children and a dog. For that reason this house was slightly less than optimal. We had a problem with the air conditioning since it only exists in one room and the rest of the house was uncomfortably hot during the day. As well it didn't work for us because the bathroom is located in the basement and one must climb down through a hatch in the floor down a kind a of step ladder. This was tricky for us because we had to close it every time so the kids and the dog didn't fall in. In addition since the village is cobblestoned and the public parking is quite a distance from the house, be prepared to walk 500 m with the luggage in hand and make sure you have the directions clear from the start. But for others this house may work really well. It is clean and I appreciated all the gentle furnishings which were authentic and if it hadn't been for some of these other details we would have recommended this house whole heartedly.

We are coming to Groznjan quite often, but this was the first time we decided to stay for few nights. When we saw the photos we knew it was the place for us. And it turned out to be even more beautiful than on photos. Even though Groznjan is a medieval village with the narrow cobblestone streets and all the stone houses looking alike, Branka's directions were so precise that we found the house immediately. The location is perfect: few steps from the parking lot, next to the galleries and cafes, but also with the spectacular views of Istria inland. We were absolutely delighted with the house interior: everything you might need but with the exquisite style that you don't find too often. We were blown away by many authentic details, like the huge stone sink under the kitchen window, old fire place and private patio. Branka is a wonderful host, she came to greet us and was available for everything we needed. We'd love to come again and we recommend this place from the bottom of our hearts.

This was my second visit to the house, this time in summer, first time in fall. It was very hot and airco would have been great. We moved downstairs were it stayed nice and cool, great place to just hang. The town is different of course during high season but still very pleasant and interesting, but more tourist. The house is lovely, not the most practical but with good atmosphere.

Groznjan is magical! We had a wonderful stay, taking walks along the charming village streets and outside of the city walls, and admiring the views from Mama Maria cafe. The house was perfect; we would love to visit again!

Hi, I am Branka. I live in Zagreb, Croatia, but I love spending most of the sunny days at the seaside in Istria, Savudrija (near Umag), where I have a cute Istrian house. I also like traveling around Europe together with my family and my dog.
