Our bright, sunny bungalow is newly renovated, but purposefully retains some historic 1930s charm...like the remains of an icebox in the kitchen, faux fireplace, & an original built-in vanity in the bathroom!

The space

Located on the border of Highland Park & Mount Washington, it's walking distance from markets, lots of restaurants, bars, & Gold Line Metro Rail. We sit near the crest of a hill facing the Arroyo Seco. Our lot is small, but very private. You get a treetop view from the entry & the master bedroom. All you'll see is hills, rooftops, & backyard gardens. You're not going to hear Los Angeles' infamous freeways, but this isn't the quietest neighborhood. Being at the top of a hill gives full access to all the neighborhood sounds (very light sleepers beware!) a neighbor's rooster with a full moon, another neighbor's dog, & the local flock of parrots during the days if you're lucky.

If you prefer to stay plugged into the modern world, we've got a high speed wireless internet.

Guest access

Guests have the bungalow & a small patio to themselves. If you will have a car let us know. You can have the option of the driveway or street parking. (No street cleaning on our street, so no unexpected parking tickets!)

Interaction with guests

We'll meet you personally at check in, see you settled & will always available by text or email. We live on the property, but the Bungalow has a private walkway along side the main house. It is fully detached & separated by the private patio.

Other things to note

This is a hillside property & only accessed by stairs (about 20). It's not an unreasonable ascent by any means, but not well suited for anyone with ambulation issues.

Super cute place exactly as described, had everything we needed. Highlight was the beds, amazingly comfortable with nice linen. The dogs barking and roosters crowing were pretty loud at times during the night / early morning otherwise very quiet neighbourhood and lovely hosts.

The place is so rad, so well finished and decorated. The bed was super comfy. Its really convenient to the freeway and the area is cool. We really enjoyed our visit in LA and Thom and Kate were really nice hosts. Would definitely return!

Thom and Kate's place was the perfect spot to spend a few days in LA. Cool breezes through the open windows at night, the perfect deck to sip coffee and look out onto the hills of Mt. Washington, all the essentials, and so many sweet details make this place special. Stay here a few days if you get the chance.

It was a very cozy, clean place perfect for a family of 4. The place is on a hill so you have a great view of the hill tops. It only hot a little hot during the afternoons because that's when the sun shines directly into the rooms. Communication was great! Takes a little while to get to downtown LA but other than that it really was an awesome stay! Would definitely recommend to other people!
