It is a charming airy and ventilated house, located in a compound with caretaker. It is in the town center, close to the Jardin des Plantes. Enjoy the terrace, the garden and the birds singing in the city!
Hello, I am an anthropologist and we rent a house in Porto-Novo (Benin) that we live only a few months a year. It is located between the Lycée Béhanzin and the Ecole Normale, in the center, with many trees. The house has 3 bedrooms, 3 double beds + 1 triple bed + 1 single bed + 1 cot. All are equipped with mosquito nets. There is also a bathroom (shower), independent toilets, an equipped kitchen, ceiling fans of each room. The air conditioning proves useless due to the temperate micro climate linked to the design of the house, the height and trees situation. The large terrace equipped with a mosquito net is our favorite place of life. Nothing luxurious, but this small house of the Sixties is very well designed by a Brazilian architect. The residence is equipped with a security guard and we can also put you in touch with our friends to rent a car with or without driver, to discover the tasty local cuisine, to benefit from a laundry service etc. Our children (3 and 9 years old) love this house. And we, we love Porto-Novo, antithesis of Cotonou! See you soon !
Location: in the city center near the Jardin des Plantes and the Nature and the National Assembly.
Tonton Souley can pick you up at the airport and you will be welcomed at home by Amandine, who takes care of the house in our absence.

Interaction with guests
If you are in our house, we are not there! But our friends can help you discover Porto-Novo, and make your life easier (car, cooking, shopping at the market, baby sitting, gardening, etc.). And the house is full of guides and so on.
Other things to note
Blending vernacular, Afro-Brazilian and colonial architecture, Porto-Novo is an extraordinary city, still largely unknown to Westerners, which seems to us always incredible. You have to stroll around the city, taste the incredible street cuisine, admire the old houses, pay attention to the many deities planted at each crossroads, and savor a Beninese (beer!) By watching the petanque tournaments. It's a little Marseille in West Africa.
Smoking: on the terrace and outside.
No worries for animals,
Behavior expected: be careful at home, report any problems.
Anthropologue, je vis avec ma famille entre Porto-Novo et Saint Denis. Lorsque je voyage, j'aime bien m'installer quelque part et vivre avec les gens. C'est pour cela que je fais ce métier, d'ailleurs.
