Bright, quiet, double bedded room in friendly, charming flat with sunny garden overlooking beautiful coastline. Quick bus direct to New Town/Old Town/Royal Mile and brand new direct bus to airport only 4 mins walk away. A sociable cat is in residence & hens in the garden supply breakfast - no rooster, I promise! Very happy to help to make your visit smooth and successful with whatever information I can provide so you can get on with making the most of beautiful Edinburgh.
This Trinity flat (not Leith, as per Air BnB's automated system) is part of a Victorian villa with manicured shared gardens to the front and a well-tended, private garden to the rear, which has spectacular views over the Firth of Forth and across the water to Fife. The quiet, bright bedroom for guests has a wonderfully comfortable bed, good reading lights, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, armchair and table by the window. Guests repeatedly report getting some of the best nights of sleep that they have had in years! The combination of being close to the heart of a World Heritage city and the having beautiful sea views that make Scotland so special, offers a unique experience while staying in Edinburgh.
Guests will have access to a bright modern bathroom with power shower and large bathtub, a comfortable sitting room with fireplace when the colder weather arrives, a well-appointed kitchen (with some advance coordination as to timings to ensure availability), wifi throughout, free safe parking immediately outside, and, most enjoyably, a lovely garden with outdoor seating, BBQ and superb views. Check in and departure may be more flexible if other guests aren't departing/arriving on the same day.
Interaction with guests
I have traveled extensively and understand there are times when I have had a thirst for knowledge from tiny practicalities to a better understanding of the culture, architectural, history, politics and identify of the place I am visiting. I also know there are times when I just want to be left to sit with a cup of tea or glass of wine, a book and a view. I am more than happy to accommodate either as the mood takes you.
Other things to note
Probably worth noting that I have some expertise in architecture history so am happy to give an overview of the wonders of Edinburgh and Scotland. I have frequent visitors from all over the world so can answer most tourism and transport questions you may have. I also have been a restaurant critic for many years so can provide useful knowledge as required. The garden is there to be enjoyed and when the weather is good you may be tempted to light up the BBQ. I entertain regularly, have catered and enjoy cooking so if you would like an evening meal at any time or a packed picnic I am happy to provide subject to agreeing a reasonable cost and a bit of notice. This might also suit late arrivals if you just can't face heading out into the world again. Please let me know in advance your breakfast preferences and any allergies or food intolerances you may have. It is easy to adapt to suit and the most important thing is that you feel contented.
The rules in my non-smoking home are pretty simple and rather what you would expect of friends you would invite to stay. Please make yourselves at home and treat my flat and pets kindly. Enjoy a drink in the garden or a cup of tea on the sofa, but do remember this is a fairly quiet residential neighbourhood when in the gardens in the evenings or returning late at night.
I love to visit new places, cook new dishes and delve into new books and tested favourites. I don't own a TV and I am not into the social media website that has become so popular that a movie was made about it nor the website that feeds 140 character messages (did you notice you cannot name other websites on the AirBnB system? - hence my descriptions) or the like. Would much rather see friends in 3D, sharing a cup of tea and something delicious to nibble, or go to the pub and watch real life unfold before my eyes.
I have enjoyed my first summer season of hosting guests and have been rewarded with interesting, curious and kind people who I have very much enjoyed meeting and introducing to the wonders of Edinburgh. And it's rather a lot of fun to feed everyone as well and it gives me a good excuse to bake!
