This building is Fairlie's old Courthouse and is now used as a vacation retreat. While it is quite quaint, rustic, and a little bit rough around the edges, when the log fire is cranked up and you are nestled in one of the comfy sofa's with wine in hand, all the worlds troubles seem to melt away . Come and stay, bring friends and wine, and enjoy With Mount Dobson ski field entrance just 10 minutes away I'm sure you will love it......but you be the judge:-]

The space
The historic Fairlie Courthouse was built in 1909 and in the early years was also a police station. It has now been converted into a rustic and quirky holiday home/ski lodge. It has two bedrooms - one was originally the judges chamber and the other was the court administration office (formally the police station office). The main lounge/common room was originally the court house gallery. A log burner makes this space very cosy and warm. The judge's bench was on a raised stage, which now has a couple of sofas for lounging and relaxing. They can double as extra beds for children or adults. The back room off the main courtroom is now the kitchen with with a ceramic cook top (but no oven), fridge and microwave oven. There are pots and kitchen utensils enough to cook up basic fare. The bathroom is small but functional, with a shower over the bath, and a hand basin. A seperate toilet completes the facilities. In summer, the private backyard is great for barbecues or just gazing at the stars.

Guest access
You are welcome to use the whole space; the owners don't live here, so you have the whole courthouse and grounds to yourselves! There are sofas in the common area that could be used to sleep kids (over the age of 3), teenagers or even adults.

Other things to note
Breakfast is not supplied, however it is only a 5 minute walk to the centre of town and has the highly renowned Fairlie Bakehouse who's pies are the best in NZ. They also have baked goods, coffee, and are open early in the morning. You are welcome to cook your own breakfast in the Courthouse kitchen - the Four Square supermarket is only 5 minutes walk away opening hours between 8am and 7pm . The local service stations are open until 9 pm.
