Beautiful, airy Victorian semi detached cottage with sea view and walking distance to the beach. Great for entertaining family and friends or a quiet, romantic getaway .

The space

The cottage is spacious, beautifully yet practically furnished and combines old world style with modern convenience. Our favourite space is the lovely big kitchen and dining area that opens through a double French door to the patio and garden at the rear of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the right stuff for making great meals. There are two lovely bedrooms, one sleeping two and the other one comfortably with all white, pure cotton linen and super-duper comfy beds. Both bedrooms have a private bathroom. The garden is sheltered from the prevailing summer south easterly wind and provided a great place for kids to play.

The cottage will be yours entirely when you are there but we are just a short drive away should you need us. We will happily stock the fridge with all of the essentials on your arrival and are always at hand to provide tips and recommendations on things to do and see.

Guest access

The cottage, garden and outdoor spaces will be yours for the duration of your stay.

Donné is a pleasure to deal with, friendly and very accommodating. Thunderclap Cottage was wonderful and we couldn't have picked a more perfect host or house - the location Is brilliant; walking distance to town centre, whilst also being secluded and close to lots of lovely beaches. Overall, a memorable and amazing holiday was had, in large part due to the lovely accommodation.

Great communication and a welcoming couple. Fantastic house in an excellent location for beaches and shops in Noordhoek. great to have private parking in the holiday season and a very secluded back garden. Also front stoop is quite private for a bit of reading and people watching. Excelent Wifi Would definatly re-book if available.

A great place to stay, in beautiful surroundings. The house is spacious and very nicely laid out, with everything that you would need. It is extremely peaceful at night and just a 2-minute walk from the lovely Seaforth beach. The garden was great for the children to play in and we were all happy to stay there for 10 days.

Our host, Donne, was fabulous. She made us feel very welcome and she was most responsive to all of our queries. Thunderclap Cottage is more beautiful than we could have hoped for. Simonstown is a magical seaside location, about an hour from Cape Town city centre. The house was very well-equipped and offered off-road parking. We loved it.

Thunderclap Cottage is a spacious, clean and well-kept cottage in a charming little town. Our party of four used it as a base for a nostalgic trip for family members who grew up in the area. The neighbourhood is pleasant and well-tended. Donné greeted us personally and gave us all the information we needed for our stay, as well as tips for places to go locally. We were able to walk to the centre of Simon’s Town, to the local beach and to Boulders Beach to see the penguins. The furnishings are very comfortable and the cottage is very well-equipped. It was a great base from which to explore Cape Town, Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula. For a great history of the town the Simon’s Town Museum is well worth a visit. I highly recommend this cottage as a cosy, comfortable, secure place to stay.

Fantastic cottage, so neat and tidy and a stroll away from gorgeous beaches with penguins - if you're lucky. Comfortable beds, punctual housekeeping and terrific interior decoration.
