Super convenient location! No car needed, only steps from MARTA Oakland City Station. 10 minute train to Airport & 5 minute train downtown. Welcoming atmosphere with a communal, hostel-like vibe, perfect for solo travelers looking for a fun, laid back place. Hosts are friendly and easy going, including the 3 resident canine co-hosts. Not a traditional room with solid walls but one of six inviting, beautifully decorated private areas divided by light wooden partitions & floor to ceiling curtains.
This is the less formal, yet stylish and fun, garden level of our Vintage Bungalow. We have built out the space into 3 main areas for budget travelers who still want to enjoy art, comfort, tranquility, beauty, luxury, and Southern hospitality.
Sleep, Eat, and Wash.
Sleep Area - a huge room divided into several spacious private crash pads, each has plenty of room to move around and get dressed, work or study, and get ready for your day, without feeling cramped, comfy well dressed single bed, plenty of hooks, nooks, cubbies, shelves, etc, to organize your belongings. Each Crash Pad is completely enclosed with a combination of solid permanent walls, light warm wooden walls, and heavy duty quality white cotton floor to ceiling curtains, suitable for a quick night's rest or extended stay, we've got ya covered. We've had guests check in, intending to stay just a few days, but ending up staying in their Crash Pad for several months. They really are just mini rooms. Guests are not permitted to use cell phones in the sleep area. It is the Quiet Zone and headphones are provided and required for all audio and video devices. Guest are allowed full access to the common areas of the Vintage Bungalow upstairs, as well, to use the two large sitting rooms, front porch, and breakfast nook.
Eat Area - Nice, sunny kitchen outfitted with all the utensils you'll need to prepare simple meals, coffee, tea, etc... with communal table for dining, and outside is a beautiful shaded patio area with plenty of tables and chairs, glider, fire pit, and hammock. Grill, veggie/herb garden (in season), and horseshoe pit are available for guests to use. We have storage available for your groceries, both in fridge/freezer and in lockers for dry goods.
Wash Area - Bathrooms, 2 toilets, and separate double vanity sink area with lots of natural light an mirrors, and a shower/bathtub. We have individual bins on vanity shelves for guest convenience to use as toiletry storage.
We also live downstairs in a separate area, as well as our 3 dogs. It is close quarters, but most guests are usually busy out and about during the day, then in the evenings, either relaxing or studying in their Crash Pads, or hanging out in the kitchen preparing a bite to eat or enjoying the outdoor sitting areas. It's a nice relaxing, chill atmosphere. Quiet and tranquil is the goal. We play chill music throughout the house quite often, so guests are required to use headphones when listening to music or watching TV/movies, and cell phones calls must to be taken outside away from other guests.

If you want to receive company in the common areas, please make arrangements with us in advance.

Easy going and creative....enjoy cooking, entertaining, local, organic food, yoga, good wine, all things vintage, history, architectural preservation, lots of good music, art, film, animals, nature, sailing, the ocean, traveling, calm and tranquil spaces, and try to find beauty in all things. Love to have fun and not take life too seriously. Enjoy hosting and meeting new friends from all cultures and backgrounds and don't really follow the mainstream of American culture at all. Love to buy houses and fix them up. Have quite a few places where we host guests and try to be as accommodating as possible. When staying in a private room, you will be in a room in one of our houses, most likely, there will be a couple of canine co-hosts in the house as well, so loving dogs is a must! Our properties are in lower income, inner city neighborhoods where real, local ATLiens live. You won't see many tourists around, mostly, just typical working class folks who love to sit on the front porch and unwind as part of Southern culture. We always say hello to each other in passing, so please be friendly and observe our friendly custom when encountering locals, they will appreciate the gesture. Locals typically enjoy meeting and helping out-of-towners. Because we are in a lower income, less traveled neighborhood, we can offer stylish, affordable accommodations to travelers on a budget. Also, for travelers relying on public transportation, we are on the Marta line conveniently situated halfway between the Airport and downtown. The rates are very reasonable and not subject to negotiation. Rates, terms, and policies are fixed and applied equally to all guests. We look forward to hosting you one day soon.
