Location

Y Felinheli, United Kingdom

Y Felinheli is a lovely village with a yacht marina on the banks of Afon Menai (Menai Strait). It has various amenities:

LOCAL PUBS, RESTAURANTS, CAFÉS AND TAKE AWAYS:

• The Garddfôn Inn - a fantastic bistro situated on the banks of the Menai Straits overlooking Ynys Môn (Isle of Anglesey).

• Tafarn y Fic tavern - situated on the main street. Serves great, homely food and a good pint. Their Sunday roast is highly recommended. Practise your Welsh with the friendly locals here.

• Swellies Café - a lovely café in the marina. Open from 8am till 4pm everyday, serving you fantastic breakfasts, delicious light lunches, beautiful home-made cakes, treats, and quality coffee. Produce all local as well!

• Chan's Chinese Takeaway - two minutes walk from the flat. It is also a Fish & Chip shop. Why not buy some nice battered fish, and walk down to the beach to watch the sun go down?

• La Marina - Italian restaurant situated in the Port Dinorwic marina, specializing in tapas, seafood, and grilled meats.

• Y Felinheli also has a village shop (Londis) that sells all the essentials that you will need during your stay. The shop also serves as a post office.

LOCATION:

• Conveniently based to explore the castles of north Wales - Caernarfon, Conwy, Harlech, Beaumaris, Dolbadarn and Cricieth, to name just a handful!

• Outdoor capital of the U.K - Surfing, Mountain-biking, Coasteering, Mountain Climbing, Zipwires, Tree Top Adventures. We have it all in north Wales.

• The village is situated ten minutes by car from Ynys Môn (Anglesey), with its rugged and beautiful coastline. 220 square miles of the island has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A long walk along the sandy beach of Traeth Llanddwyn will bring you to Ynys Llanddwyn, an enchanted island said to be the home of St Dwynwen, the Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers.

Ynys Môn is also home to the village with the longest place name in the world (Llanfairpwll), as well as stunning coastal areas such as Ynys Lawd ('South Stack').

• 15 minutes drive from the flat is the village of Llanberis, which lies at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), and is the gateway to the breathtaking Snowdonia National Park. As well as being the largest national park in Wales, Snowdonia boasts the highest mountain in Wales, the largest natural lake in Wales and a wealth of picturesque villages like Betws-y-Coed and Beddgelert. Snowdonia is an area steeped in culture and local history, where around three quarters of its population speak Welsh.

• A 25 minute car ride brings you to the Llŷn Peninsula. Tucked away beyond Snowdonia’s craggiest peaks with the Irish Sea on one side and Cardigan Bay on the other, the Llŷn has a distinctive, unspoilt character that’s all its own. Its sunny southern coast draws walkers, wakeboarders and dinghy-sailors, while the ancient pilgrimage site of Ynys Enlli, at its tip, is a haven for wildlife. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty also protects around a quarter of the Llŷn including wild stretches of coast, long-extinct volcanic peaks and grassy hillsides dotted with Iron Age forts.

• Plas Menai, The National Outdoor Centre for Wales, is just outside the village, which has a swimming pool, climbing wall, gym and offers outdoor courses including sailing, kayaking, powerboating and much more.
