Beautifully converted, self-contained cartshed in rural Carmarthenshire.

The space

You are very welcome to come and stay in our converted former cartshed on our smallholding near Gelli Aur (Golden Grove.) The cartshed is fully self-contained and has its own walled patio area. It is very quiet here, with most noise coming from the sheep and the chickens.

Guest access

You'll have your own key so can come and go as you please.

Interaction with guests

Although the cartshed is a detached building (about thirty yards from the farmhouse) we are generally on site, so available to show you round when you arrive and answer any queries you may have.

Other things to note

Unfortunately at the moment, due to some recent bad experiences, we are not taking bookings from people without a profile and some reviews or from people who want to bring pets.

The cartshed will normally be available by 3.00pm on the day of your arrival (this gives us time to prepare for you after our previous guests.) Departure is normally by 10 am although both these times are flexible if there is no booking before or after you.

I can't speak highly enough of Doug, the cartshed or the location. Everything was exactly as the listing said and on top of that we were surprised the cartshed was even more lovely than the pictures show, we had a big full basket of wood for the fire and fresh flapjacks were waiting for us on arrival. Doug was very helpful offering us suggestions of places to visit in the local area and answering all the questions we had. We went to the waterfalls near the angel inn glynneath and had a great if freezing swim - would recommend.

A perfect little cottage to relax in. Beautifully furnished to a very high standard and with a very luxurious bed. We loved the setting - very peaceful with just the chickens for company. And the Welsh cakes were delicious. One of the nicest places we've stayed in through Airbnb - would highly recommend!

Thank you Doug and Stella - we really enjoyed our stay at the carthouse! The location is beautiful, the cottage is warm and cosy, and your hospitality made us feel very welcome. We loved Stella's honey cake, and we even got to take some organic honey with us! We can't wait to come back :) Lana & Heidi

We had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at the Cartshed. On arrival we were greeted by Doug and Stella's delicious cupcakes. It was the perfect place for our first trip with our seven month old, lots of space and well equipped with everything we needed. There are lots of lovely places nearby to visit but you will need a car.

What a lovely place to stay! My family and I really enjoyed a relaxing holiday in this comfortable and well appointed traditional country barn. It is spacious, light, and homely with beautiful wooden beams and high ceilings. Looking out of the windows one finds beautiful countryside views complete with grazing sheep. Doug and his Wife were particularly kind and welcoming; much appreciated as we were travelling with our newborn. We hope to visit again in the very near future.

Doug User ProfileDoug is a superhost.

I'm married to Stella and we have two daughters. We lived in Hong Kong for many years (the girls were both born there) and enjoyed exploring South East Asia during holidays. We love living on our smallholding here in beautiful rural Carmarthenshire, where I spend my time beekeeping and violin-making..
