This little studio is the perfect home for the solo traveler or the romantic getaway. Beyond the fantastic light that fills this space, the highlight is the kitchen. Roomy, with lots of counter space and a beautiful old stove. Bathroom is technically detached but right next door.

The space

This is our home away from home. The decorations are carefully curated to create a true Santa Cruz California experience. The space is quirky and clean with just a touch of vintage charm. Beautiful redwood picnic tables and lavender colored umbrellas live right outside of your front door. Lift the umbrellas to enjoy a meal and read a book outside or enjoy an evening glass of wine underneath the hanging lights.

Guest access

Kitchen has full fridge, O'Keefe Merritt stove (everything works, but the two right burners need to be lit with a lighter which you will find in the drawer next to the stove), coffee grinder and pour over set-up. Enjoy a soak or a shower in the claw foot bathtub.

Interaction with guests

The lot is shared with people that live here. There are two small stuccos and a large house that sits in front.
We are writers, academics, designers, teachers. Kid friendly.

Other things to note

The garden is thriving. We have a beautiful orchard on the property and seasonal crops. What is ours is yours.

This is our home away from home. The decorations are things that we love, the space created by hours of loving labor. Please treat it as you would your own home. We ask that quiet hours are observed 12am to 9am and no cigarette smoking on the property. Please clean up after yourselves and respect the space of others on the property. As much as we love animals we have to respect the wishes of Jerry, the friendly Jack Russell that lives on the property and ask that you don't bring pets. Thank you and enjoy!!

You must also acknowledge
Pet(s) live on property - There is one full time very sweet dog who lives in the back stucco. She will make your day.
No parking on property - Because of the layout of the property we only provide on street parking. It is a safe neighborhood.
Amenity limitations - The very cute and private bathroom is detached but is right next door. You won't be disappointed as it is a well designed and comfortable space.

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I booked this place. To be fair the description was technically accurate but at this price we weren't expecting to stay in a shack on a commune. With the significant cleaning fee we expected it to be cleaned - instead it was dusty with old food etc in a dirty fridge. Also there appeared to be a homeless person sleeping in the front yard and the windows wouldn't shut/lock so security was not high on the agenda. If booking this place be aware of what is really on offer .... For a very steep price. We stayed in cheaper places on our way up the Californian coast which were of a much higher standard.

Charlotte's place is ideal! It's very well located on a quiet street (parking was never a problem), but a short walk to the best spots in the city such as Pacific Avenue and the Boardwalk and West Cliff Drive. The styling is very cool and made the feel so relaxing and comfortable. The bed is great, it has a charming gas stove and full size fridge. High ceilings, lots of great natural light, and very nice neighbors including an adorable dog who will let you pet her but is not at all a nuisance. I enjoyed the patio in the warm afternoons. What a low-tech, relaxing experience. I'll absolutely ask to stay again the next time I'm traveling to Santa Cruz. Thanks also for the generous treats, Charlotte! You made me feel very welcome.

The cottage is exactly like the description. It was very clean and stocked with all the kitchen equipment I needed. As described, the bathroom is has a separate entrance, not accessible from the main part of the cottage. However, this really wasn't an issue. The bathroom was very clean and stocked with necessities. During my stay, the weather was unusually hot for Santa Cruz. The cottage did get really hot during the day. At night, the temperatures dropped and it was perfect sleeping conditions. The cottage is centrally located in Santa Cruz. Very easy to walk to the down town or other areas. If you drive, there is plenty of street parking on the block. Overall a really nice, affordable place to stay.

Charlotte's studio is the perfect spot to stay and get a great sense of Santa Cruz culture and local vibes. First of all, it's adorable. It's also really close to downtown Santa Cruz with great shopping, yoga studios, coffee shops, restaurants, you name it. I'm so happy I chose this Airbnb and I hope I get to stay again!

Cute studio in walking distance to the Boardwalk. Charolette was very nice and met us at the studio. There are a couple units near by with a community table area in the middle. Everyone was very nice and quiet. The day we stayed happened to be the hottest day in Santa Cruz history (literally) at 106º. Charolette went to the studio and opened the doors and windows but the unit has no A/C which we didn't expect as most beach areas don't experience this level of heat. Fortunately it cooled down quickly as the sun set and we both were originally from Phoenix.

This cottage is absolutely adorable and very true to pictures. Nestled in the back, this tiny house provided privacy and a unique quaint accommodation experience. Never met Charolette in person, but communication was excellent, and she even provided a hair dryer the next monring upon request. No TV, closet, or microwave, but there was a dresser for storage and the kitchen had a 1940's charm. 10-15 min walk to downtown bars, restaurants, and shopping- so didn't need to use the car after arrival at all. Nightly rate was good value, but cleaning fee makes it a bit more expensive for short stays in total. Still worth the price if you value location, decor, and a unique experience. Would definitely love to return!

Hello, my name is Charlotte and I am excited to be a host for Airbnb. I love meeting new people and look forward to hosting folks coming through town. I live with my amazing boyfriend but decided to keep the studio is my own little getaway.

I am a textile artist and own my own small business called Stand West, where I design and hand make a range of luxury, eco conscious accessories using plant based dyed fabrics and mostly repurposed materials. If you are extra curious check out @standwest on Instagram.

In addition to Stand West I am a Hip Hop Dance Teacher and work as a Social Media Manager for an amazing company called Sawyer Land and Sea Supply.

Despite growing up in beautiful Colorado and having the opportunity to explore every state in the USA, Santa Cruz has a strong hold on my heart. Here I spend the majority of my free time at the skate park located just a few blocks from Riverside Ranch, running on West Cliff, visiting the farmers markets that are held every day of the week throughout town, taking my dog to the beach, hiking in the redwoods with friends, and working with the community to make this city even better then it already is.

I have been blessed beyond my own imagination to travel many places across the globe through the benefits of having a mother as an Airline Stewardess. Because of all of my experiences being away from home I have a huge heart for making sure that your stay is the best it can be. Staying somewhere that feels like home, rather then in a hotel, makes all of the difference for me when I am exploring new places. Thank God for Airbnb. ; )

I hope to have the chance to get to know you, and whether or not you decide to stay at Riverside Ranch, I'll be wishing for you the best experiences while you are here in Santa Cruz.

Light and Love!
