We enjoyed our stay with Hisao. He was very friendly, generous & accommodating. He & his wife made us tea on our arrival. Next morning, they provided us with breakfast. They even gave us umbrellas as gifts because it was raining & we wanted to buy umbrellas for ourselves. He offered to take us to the train station but we insisted on walking because we wanted to explore the neighborhood. It was a lovely walk. We got to see a lot of Nippori, old houses, gardens, etc.

I had one of the best experience in my life at Hisao's Place because it wasn't only a place where to sleep but I also had the pleasure and the opportunity to be one of his kendo pupil although for a day. Unfortunately I slept only two days in his house because it was already booked for the rest of June and July, quite normal for a superhost. I was been in a traditional house like his at Kyoto Westin hotel some years ago so my mind led me to a nice night spent with my parents when my mother was still alive, infact I feel her presence when a beautiful butterfly greet me in the outside balcony on a creeper's leaf. So I thought that I was in the right place in the right moment. He take cares of me and it was tender like a father, from the beginning at check-in time, during my stay and at check-out when his wife prepared me a pocket lunch with a sandwich and some choko sweeties. You will feel at home at Hisao's place and feel, although for a short time, like a real Japanese, breathing the wooden tatami smell, the lightness of traditional furnitures and everything at your disposal. A neat and huge space for Japanese standards and the plus of attending one of his lesson, if you want. I hope to come back again one day

The room I got was next to the seidokan changing room and I found it bigger than what it looks like on the photos! Super nice place, next to yamanote line, Ueno Park, yanaka ( the old Tokyo, with the best croquettes Ever).if you can, watch the training! Wish I could speak Japanese to talk longer with Hisao-san and his adorable wife who makes the bret sandwiches! Plus, Hisao drove me very early in the morning to the train station which was so nice of him. Great people, great place, good vibes. Good location :) Arigato !

Homely and clean place that is worth staying at. As a female solo traveler, I thought that the neighborhood was safe for one to walk home (15 mins walk) from the nearest JR station. The host is very hospitable and I will definitely recommend you to stay at his place!
