We were 4 adults travelling together and we loved this place. It was even better than we had expected and Tijl was easy to communicate with before arriving and also on arrival he was very helpful. Everything was clean and new and it was a lovely quiet place in the countryside on the edge of a village. You need a car if you stay here, but it is easy distance by car to Ostend and Bruges. We would definitely recommend this to other people.

It is absolutely amazing at Hagepoorter. If you like the nature and silence that’s the place you want to be. Tijl and Maite are wonderful guests. And It’s all designed very tasteful and practical.

This was our 2nd stay at Haagerpoorter. We stayed in house number 3. It was spacious and beautifully laid out. The bedrooms up stairs were well proportioned with a walk in wardrobe also. Facilities were excellent and the whole property and grounds were clean and tidy. My daughter loved the trampoline and feeding the ponies everyday. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend to others. One if the nicest air bnb we have stayed in.

“De Hagepoorter” farm is a stunning collection of 5 barn conversions at the outskirts of “Zerkegem”, a quiet village in the province of Jabbeke, about 20 min drive from Bruges as well as the Flemish coast (de Haan). The accommodations of “De Hagepoorter” are first class; good facilities and quality of equipment, plenty of plates, cups, cutlery and pots and pans, pretty much anything you need in your kitchen. Practical bathroom and a high comfortable bed (almost felt like “the princess and the pea” the first evening). Though fully occupied during our stay, you did not hear any noise from your neighbors. Enjoyed walking to the bakery in the morning (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) to get fresh bread and croissants and became a regular customer of the Spegelaere (local supermarket) and Aldi which both had a good assortment of products throughout. Swimming pond was a refreshing bonus which would possibly have been used more often, had the sun been available to tweak the temperature slightly. Internet access was good as certain responsibilities were still necessary, even during the holidays. As Tijl and Maite are residents of the farm which means they are always accessible to answer questions or assist if anything is needed. If you are looking for a terrific as well as quiet base to recover from the stress of daily life as well as explore Bruges, Gent and/or the Flemish coast, then this is absolutely an option to explore.

Hoeve De Hagepoorter is a collection of lovely barn conversions around 15km from Bruges. The location is a quiet village. We used the cycle lanes and canal paths to cycle in and out of Bruges, which was lovely. The accommodation is first class; good quality fittings in the kitchen, a lovely shower and a very comfortable bed. No noise from neighbours. Tijl lives on the site and is available to assist if needed. If you want a high quality quiet base to explore Bruge and the surrounding area then book here.

This was a beautiful place that was excellent value for money. The hosts are welcoming and friendly without being overbearing. Even though it rained much of our stay the rooms were so comfortable and never felt cramped. This is at the top of our list for weekend getaways from Brussels.

Hoeve (=farm) De Hagepoorter is a realisation of the family Tijl Waelput - Maite Arjona. The buildings were purchased in 2010. After a huge refurbishment doors could be opened in 2014. We have been living in Brugge for many years where we runned first hotel Botaniek and afterwords hotel Jan Brito.
