Aristeas place is located in a very nice part of the fantastic Anogia village, with great views. The rooms are confortable and very clean. There is a kitchen available which is big and has a nice dinning room. We lacked som stuff but just asked to Aristeas' grandma and she inmediatelly provided everything needed.

The room was as describe! everything was simple and nice. The sight in the room was beautiful. It's a nice place to stay in Anogia for a little cost. Aristea and her family were all nice.

Aristea tries to be helpful but her English is limited and she is away during the week. I is a long treacherous road to Agnoia and the village is depressing with little to do. Her sweetheart of a grandmother is friendly but speaks no English.

The grandmother is so welcoming and so sweet! The place is very roomy and the village is really nice. Getting from Iraklio to the village isn't too difficult but the buses do not come frequently so if you miss the 2 pm bus you need to take a cab.

Anogia is a beautiful village that is a must to visit! Hotel Aristea is as it is advertised, with no surprises but is very basic. At first we were given a room with hardly any windows so we asked to move and were much happier with the second room. When I booked, I didn't know that it is a hotel with a fair few rooms over 3 or so floors. The cost of the accommodation is very reasonable but it is basic, and some of the rooms have balconies while others do not. It might be worth checking this with Aristea at the time of booking, to make sure you get what you want. She and her family are very kind, and the scenery is breathtaking!

I have such mixed feelings about my stay at Aristea's Apartments (it is, as other people have noted, a family-run hotel). The view was incredible, the town had lovely people who couldn't have been nicer, and the room was both spacious and comfortable. However, for a two night stay I ran in to a lot of problems! First, my door wouldn't lock. Then, I was locked into my room and couldn't get out. And then, the first night I had no heat and very lukewarm water. All of these problems were addressed as promptly as I was able to communicate them. To me, how a host deals with a problem matters more than the problem itself, and the folks at Aristea's really did try their best to get things dealt with right away, and for the most part they succeeded. Good customer service makes up for a lot. Where I ran into real trouble was communication. My first morning I had some basic questions (like how to work the shower, or how to contact a taxi). Because there was a language barrier (I only speak a little Greek), I took the time to write out all my questions in Greek before going to ask them, that way, if needbe, they could read the questions and write the answers for me to look up in the dictionary. But, when I went to ask questions, only the grandmother was there. She offered me coffee and breakfast, and was very kind. But, when I tried to ask her questions, she indicated she was only there to give people breakfast, and I would have to wait for someone who spoke English. Everyone else was at church, and wouldn't be back for three hours. Unfortunately, the grandmother was the only one around almost every time I went to try and ask these questions! (I tried several times throughout the day.) If another kind woman in the village hadn't helped me, I would have had a real problem making arrangements to get back to Heraklion for my flight, and I never would have been able to get a taxi to the nearby caves I wanted to see. This was, in general, how the people at Aristea's apartments dealt with the language barrier. If they didn't understand me, I had to wait while they found someone who would. Sometimes they could find someone right away, but if they couldn't I was out of luck. They were the only people in the entire town who didn't have the time to work with me as I figured out how to say things in Greek... and that was the most frustrating thing of all. In addition, do not expect reliable internet or phone reception in the room (though the reception is fine in the town). I feel like this is an excellent place to stay if you speak Greek. For the price, what you get is phenomenal, and if you're willing to put up with a few quirks it's worth...

The family at Aristea apartments is the best host I have ever had! They are great, friendly people, very pleasant to talk to, very respectful and nice. The room is perfect, just as described and the atmosphere of the village is magical, very calm and relaxing with incredible views all around. I was given a short tour of the village while coming from the airport as well, which was very useful. They have also treated me several delicious meals, and frequently made sure I have everything I need which was great! I would definitely recommend this host to everyone!
