Welcome to our cozy 2 room private suite with separate entrance in sunny Lucas Valley. Surrounded by the quiet of hills and trees, yet only 2+ miles off hwy 101. We are centrally located for easy day trips to Pt. Reyes, Muir Woods, San Francisco, and Napa/Sonoma Valley wine tasting. . . or you can walk to tennis, take a swim, stroll through the Eichler neighborhood or to the horse stables, hike the lower hillside trail, or master the rigorous climb up Bigrock Ridge and view the whole Bay Area.

The space

Enter thru private gate to a garden patio amid ferns and Hydrangeas. A Sunny 100 sq ft. sitting room has music, wi-fi, and fine art. Cards and board games are there for your amusement. A Keurig Elite sits on the granite counter for fresh coffee or tea. You have a mini fridge (with ice and bottled water), and a Microwave for heating snacks, dinners or drinks, and a toaster. Breakfast fixings vary, and may include house-made gluten free granola, yogurt, organic banana nut bread, fresh fruit, bagel, cream cheese, milk (or almond milk) and coffee and tea. Bowls, water and wine glasses, plates, utensils, etc., are at your fingertips.

A recently remodeled private bath has double sinks on a granite counter. Fresh bedding and linens, of course!

The accommodation is best suited for two guests sharing the very comfortable queen bed in the 100 sq ft. bedroom. There is a closet and dresser for your things. If a second bed is needed, we remove the stereo in the sitting room and add a very comfortable double size air bed (for a small fee to cover laundry, etc.). The entire suite is locked off from the rest of the house for your privacy.

A Portable Dyson Floor heater/cooler augments the radiant in-floor heating, if needed.

Guest access

Guests have their own private shaded patio, but may also enjoy sharing the larger back covered patio set alongside the garden and landscaped hillside, with views of the unspoiled ridge behind the house.
We endeavor to personally welcome all guests, and provide a quick review of the accommodation and house rules. We will be available personally or via phone throughout your stay. There are no cooking facilities per se except the microwave and toaster. We are pleased to share info on day trips, local restaurants, or walking, biking, or hiking trails. You are welcome to enjoy a nearby community pool. A convenience store is 1 mile away, a guest recommended Deli 2 miles away, and grocery shopping and a Mall is 15 minutes by car.

We respect the privacy of guests first. If time and circumstance allow, we are pleased to share conversations over travel and adventures. We have enjoyed some fun travels in our time, and are pleased to hear of new and different paths.

Ken and Yvonne are wonderful people! Their home is beautiful, extremely clean, comfortable and welcoming. Communication was a breeze and my every need was anticipated. The attention to detail and care for their guests is unprecedented. I would recommend staying with them if you are in the area.

I can't give enough praises for how amazing this place is; Location, value, hosts, cleanliness, comfort, attention to detail, communication and LOVE. Honestly, Ken and Yvonne give so much care and heart to their guests and their home. So much in fact that I wanted to hug them when we greeted one another. They contacted me before the trip to find out what we like to eat, they picked fresh fruit from their garden, Yvonne made this amazing granola (and gave me the recipe), they thought of every possible travel need and provided little extra sundries and fun little activities like board games! They knew my one year old was coming with me and Ken even child proofed the table. I want to come back and stay longer!

I loved staying at Ken and Yvonne's place. It was a beautiful spot in a great neighborhood. Had all the amenities I needed and then some. They went above and beyond expectations providing breakfast daily. Ken and Yvonne are also super nice people. They went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Felt more like I was visiting friends than just renting a room. Hope to visit again someday. Highly recommend.

Such a great find in Marin County! Perfectly located for a quiet visit and still convenient to 101 either North or South. Ken and Yvonne have added such wonderful extra touches such as a variety of toiletries you might have forgotten and delicious homemade granola for the morning. They've gone the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. We would definitely stay there again and hope to get back soon!

The place was amazing and so spacious with a comfortable bed! I got the best night sleep! Ken and Yvonne are the nicest people you will ever meet and make you feel so at home and couldn't ask for better hosts! We will definitely be back to visit again. They give you so many little goodies to choose from and there is a nice little sitting area to relax besides the backyard if you would like to enjoy your coffee out there. The views are amazing and you couldn't enjoy San Rafael and the surrounding areas any other way. If you want a quiet place to relax and get away look no further than the McKinley house!

The accommodations were beautiful, comfortable, spotless and surrounded by gorgeous country. The breakfast (yogurt, homemade granola, fruit, banana bread) and snacks were delicious. The hosts are friendly, nice people. We will definitely stay there the next time we are in the area.

This was a fantastic Airbnb experience. Ken & Yvonne were lovely hosts and took great care of us, from the delicious breakfast items to the servicing of the room. The place was perfect for my husband, myself and our adult daughter to stay comfortably for 5 nights while we explored the greater San Francisco area. It truly is a perfect location to explore many areas (we did Point Reyes, Sonoma, Napa and Bodega Bay), and it was nice to return to an oasis after long days of exploration. The suite is well-appointed with anything you could possibly need, from the basics to extra thoughtful items like maps, a shopping bag, fresh flowers and the treats (and, yes, Yvonne's granola is a must have!). You can also enjoy having your coffee in the seating area outside of the suite, connected to lovely gardens. The neighborhood is very nice, plentiful parking, and markets, restaurants, etc. are a short distance away. We will definitely return here on a future visit!
