Guests are welcome to stay and relax in the little house we originally built for our Mamau, who now resides in heaven. The house overlooks a small pond, sometimes full if we get the rain, but always visited by deer and dragonflies!

The space
Quiet and peaceful other than the crowing roosters and clucking hens! Approximately 750 sq feet of house supplied with everything you should need for your stay! Two bedrooms with a queen and a double size bed also a sleeper couch in living room that can sleep two. We do not do any maid services such as cleaning during your stay but do supply soap and softener sheets for clothes and linens washing. There is a change of sheets in the closets. Many of the basic condiments such as olive oil, baking powder, spices, etc. and pots, pans, dishes, and utensils for your cooking are in the cabinets so you should only have to buy the main stuff! Look in the cabinets before you go shopping and if we need to refill anything such as paper towels, toilet paper, etc. - let us know!

Guests are welcome to use the pool, the cedar Pergola area, and the propane BBQ grill. If we do have a big cookout party (only occasionally) we will let you know and invite you!

We have traveled a lot throughout the world and always enjoy staying in Zimmer Frei kind of places! We will like to get to know you a bit but will certainly respect your privacy! The house is set far back from the main house and you come and go as you please without at all passing through the main house!

The neighborhood is nice and quiet and safe - good for walking and we can tell you how to get to the trails if you want to walk down to and all around the nearby Stillhouse Hollow Lake!

There is not easy public transportation close by! A vehicle is necessary to get anywhere!

We collect 13% in lodging taxes (included as part of the rate) which we pay quarterly through HotSpot Tax Services. We realize taxes and insurance are necessary costs for any business. However, in June 2015 we were informed by our insurance agency (USAA) they were dropping our homeowners insurance because we are doing short term rentals. Replacement insurance through another agency is costing $650.00 more per year as an additional cost and which we must necessarily, pass on to our guests as increased rates. If we were renting space in our home long term, as people have done for years to, for example, college students and others, we could probably have kept the policy. To help prevent things such as this and more, do what you can to support the sharing economy in your area, and squash any local ordinances and laws stopping free enterprise, and support the AirBnB community.

Both my wife and I are veterinarians in small animal practice. We live on the edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just north of Austin. We like to travel as much as time and money allow, having lived three years in Berlin, Germany, and from there exploring Western and Eastern Europe. We (or a portion of us) have gone as far south as Palmer Station, Antarctica, as far east as Volgograd, Russia, as far west as Zamboanga, Philippines, to the center of Australia at Uluru. Also, to the Near East, drifting the Nile from Cairo, Egypt, and just before Ebola struck, in Sierra Leonne. Recent years found us taken to Seward and Delta Junction in Alaska, Beijing and Xi'an in China, and to Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca in Peru. Also two years ago to Costa Rica, and the Golden Triangle of Jaipur, Agra and New Delhi in India. Last year going down under again to see the kiwis, glowworms, and Hobbit-lands in New Zealand. This year to surreal French Polynesia on the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora. This is an older picture of us but the kids are still college kids. We live with two horses, three dogs, two cats, two peacocks, five chickens, and a few fish. We know it is often the people who make a trip special and enjoy meeting our guests and getting to know them a bit.
