Let us make your dream getaway a vivid reality. Nestled in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges in North Wairarapa is a hidden property waiting to be shared with guests. A short drive from Masterton and only an hour and a half from Wellington, this tranquil property has a range of oases to make a wonderful weekend or week away a reality.

This is a LGBTQ+ friendly family and home! Guests of all sexuality and race are welcome.

The space
Attached to the Main House is the gem of the property—The Coach House. This quaint and cozy fully-equipped ensuite is most suited for couples looking for a weekend getaway or solo travellers looking to get to know Wairarapa locals and explore the region. Filled with eclectic art and treasures collected locally and from around the world, this unique space offers everything you need to enjoy a tranquil getaway: luxurious canopy king-size bed, fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining room, open fireplace, and private access to the swimming pool and gardens.

This property is also suitable for ‘work warriors’ who might be looking for a weekend getaway to focus on a project or seeking to escape the hustle of Wellington for a night or two. For this reason, the space is laptop friendly; featuring a dining table suitable for work - looking out onto the garden and pool along with free high-speed wifi.

The main house attached includes, a billiards room, large ball room, baby grand piano and catering size kitchen. Guest are free to use all facilities on the property and are encouraged to explore the gardens.

Complementing the natural beauty of the exterior is a cozy and eclectic interior filled with treasured art and objects gathered both locally and from around the world.

Additionally, we provide two unique Bed & Breakfast Rooms available in The Main House. These one bedroom spaces provide ample room for one person or a couple to stay while also still offering all of the luxuries of the property including: pool access, tennis courts, and garden walks.

Guest access
The property is best reached by car – onsite parking is available. Guests have their own private access to the Coach House.

Guests may also travel to Masterton by train – transport to and from the station - property can be arranged with us. We’re happy to collect you and bring you to the lodge!

Other things to note
Basic breakfast food is provided and in the fee of the stay, (tea, coffee, orange juice, oats, eggs, bread, bacon etc). Guests are welcome to prepare at their leisure. Please advise us of dietary requirements prior to arrival.

Dinner at an additional fee can also be provided and served in the main dining hall. - Please advise us prior to 2:00pm of each day should you require it. Most vegetables and fruit are grown onsite – while we aim to source most ingredients locally too. While we do our best to eat healthy, we also like to share with guests a range of Wairarapa wines with evening meals.

This Upper Plain escape is also home to a cat, dog and three chickens! They’re all friendly and enjoy playing in the garden when the weather is nice.

In and around Martinborough wine village, famed for its award-winning Pinot Noir, you'll discover a host of welcoming vineyards. Continue the trail through Gladstone and Masterton—the home of The 540 Lodge.

The 540 Lodge is nestled in the foot hills of the beautiful Tauraru ranges. There are stunning bush walks in the area and wineries around, as well as fishing at Castle Point.

Masterton is the closest town and only an 8-minute drive away. In Masterson you will find cafes, a movie theatre, super markets and pharmacy's.

We purchased the property two years ago with the dream of escaping the everyday hustle and bustle for the tranquility of the Wairarapa—and we wanted to share this treasure with like-minded guests. The property is absolute magic from the moment you enter the bush clad driveway until you wander through the tranquil and peaceful surroundings. We know for you, like us, it will not take long to fall in love.
