A lovely one bedroom apartment in the centre of Edinburgh. Georgian grandeur but with an artistic character. Massive front room, huge windows, close to Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Comfy cosy bed with feather pillows and cotton sheets.
The flat is located on a grand Georgian crescent 5min walk from Princes Street and close to all Edinburgh Fringe Festival attractions. It has high ceilings and three massive windows which look out over my window boxes onto a city garden. As a former hotel it still retains some of that character with a large carpeted entrance hallway.
The interior of the flat comprises a large front room with bedroom, kitchen and bathroom adjacent.
The front room has some great spots for relaxing, an extensive record collection spanning rock'n'roll to Jazz, which you are welcome to browse. There is also a fascinating variety of books and journals. This is all tied together beautifully by a large oriental rug.
The kitchen is well equipped and stocked. There is a seating area and table to enjoy meals at. There is an old wind up gramophone and 78's collection to enjoy when sitting on the leather arm chair, a favourite spot of mine. When you arrive there will be freshly made bread.
The bedroom is more akin to a den but the double bed is festooned with feather bedding and cotton sheets. It makes for an ideal hide away from the world and can be quite difficult to leave.
The bathroom has a bath/shower, large mirrors and will be set out with nice soaps, shampoo and towels for your arrival.
The flat also boasts a variety of art work on the walls, from German expressionism, Communist era etchings from Hungary to some of my own work.
It may not be your average flat but I feel it certainly has a charm and hope that staying for a short time will make you feel at home and relaxed.
Guests will have to access to the entire flat and that includes use of all facilities I have. Juicer, magi mix, coffee making equipment etc.
Interaction with guests
I will meet and greet all guests and show them around the appartment. There will also be fresh bread, quality coffee, eggs, granola and yoghurt provided. I can advise of good places to eat and get supplies in the area and will provide a free coffee (to enjoy any time during their visit) in my nearest and favourite cafe. I like to go the extra length to accommodate guests but the interaction is limited to a short meeting at the start and end of the stay. Of course if any thing is required I will normally be in Edinburgh so can be contacted.
• Check-in time is 2PM.
Keeping the place tidy after you depart would be appreciated. If anything is broken during your stay I would like to be notified.
All food and supplies are there for you to make the most of.
I do not have any pets but if you want I have no issue with you bringing along your beloved ball of fur/scales.
Hi, I live and work in Edinburgh.
I like to go snowboarding during the winter and work for the Edinburgh Book Festival in summer. I am also a yoga instructor.
I am also a practising artist and use the mediums of sound art and printmaking.
These combine to take up most of time but when I have some spare I like to go to a real ale pub, there a couple of great ones in Edinburgh, read some books and watch movies.
I also like a good magazine and subscribe to a thing called STACK where they send you an independent magazine of their choosing once a month.
