Just returned from our stay at The White House. Really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. Quintessential Irish country house in beautiful location. Clean and well appointed with everything you need. Lovely warm atmosphere in the house too. Will definitely be back again. Pat was a very friendly and accommodating host and had great local ' in the know' suggestions. Will book for a week next time!

Third time staying at The White House. A charming and relaxed house in a peaceful place off the beaten track. Within easy reach of some of the most beautiful areas in Ireland. No visit is ever long enough to see them all. Great places to eat and walk and talk. A friendly and communicative host. If that sounds good to you, choose this house.

Beautiful house. It is remote, however the space (indoor and outdoor ), the views, the peace and quiet are all spectacular. Directions supplied by Pat made it easy to find. There is so much to do in the area, we managed a visit to Mizen Head, Ballyrisode Beach, kayaking in Schull, Baltimore and Union Hall and quick trip to Bantry to the cinema. We made use of the beach equipment, bbq, badminton net and in the evenings the kids loved the extensive film collection! Pat was so helpful and all his recommendations were spot on and much appreciated! Many thanks!

We stayed two nights with four adults and two children at the white house. Pat was a fantastic host, extremely responsive and friendly as well as providing lots of local recommendations. The house itself is very nice and extremely good value for money. The kitchen is big and very well stocked ( Pats uncle even arrived with milk for us!) and the sunroom is a lovely place to spend time. To be honest we spent most of our time in this room. The middle sitting room and the playroom weren’t used that much as they were a bit dark for this time of year. One blip was that Pat had been let down by a local contractor and the lawn hadn’t been cut . This meant that the children could not take advantage of the very large space. It was resolved on the last day of our trip thanks to Pats efforts but it was too late to enjoy it! The gardens themselves are extensive and in parts overgrown ( by design ) so there are some parts that would not be suitable for younger children ( we had a 2 and a 3 year old with us). Overall we enjoyed our stay, Pat is a fantastic host and the house is good value for money.

We had the most fantastic time in Fiona and Pat's house. They were really great hosts who gave us a lot of helpful information about the area and things to do. The house is really stunning and a perfect base from which to explore the area and local culture or to do nothing at all apart from play games and read and sit in the beautiful garden. Highly recommended and we hope to go back very soon.

Pat did a really great job with creating a binder of amazing information on the surrounding area and places to visit and people in town to meet. She was also very willing to let guests use bikes and wet suits and recreational materials. She even left use a bottle of wine! Pat was a wonderful communicator.

We had good communication with Pat the day before arrival. I suggest people use gps coordinates to find the place. Also, suggest you arrive during day light. Beautiful home, well equiped. The house looked like it had been unatended for a while and for that reason there were many spider webs in the corners and behind the beds. With all that said we woukd definitely recommend the place as a secluded retreat (with very limited cell connection available in the area)

We live in West London with our 3 children, but spend our holidays in Cork and Mayo near our parents, uncles, aunts, cousins.... We are both self-employed - working in the music and internet industries.

We brought The White House in 2007 having outgrown our 1 bedroom cottage in Mayo. We were looking for a larger house, with an exciting garden for the children. Pat's mothers family come from Skibbereen and we have always loved the atmosphere of west Cork.
West Cork has the most stunning coastline and gorgeous villages, but has not been ravaged by tourists. The music festivals, and pub sessions are exceptional; the scenery breathtaking; the island hopping great fun; and the local people so welcoming.
