Highland Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in LA. Set amongst the rolling hills just north of downtown LA - it is a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of most major cities. Within minutes you can catch the metro, enjoy the downtown, head up to old town Pasadena, or spend the day hiking through the hills and enjoying the classic homes that are throughout this LA district! Many near bars, restaurants, and art galleries have opened up recently. This is the place to be ---if you like a massive city at your fingertips --- but not on your doorstep!!

Although LA is and will always be a city of cars --- we have made great progress in terms of public transportation! The Metro Gold Line, which passes through the heart of Highland Park, can take you about anywhere in the city these days! Of course there will be transfers needed and time consumed traversing this giant city --- but many locals, and most any traveller would find that having a car is not a necessity!!

I really love Jonathan's home. The house is very big and cozy. The view from the balcony to Downtown Los Angeles is just awesome. The three cats are adorable. The room itself is very comfortable (with an own private bathroom and a big closet). I love the Highland Park neighborhood (with lots of good food and fancy shops) and always felt safe here. The train station to the metro Gold Line is only a 10 minutes walk away and the metro brings you to DTLA within 15 minutes for only $1,75. But.. best of all is Jonathan as a host. I got really sick while I was staying in his place (back injury) and Jonathan was super supportive and helped me with everything. I honestly don't know, what I would have done without him (thank you so much, Jonathan). He was not only my host, but became a very good friend. I can highly recommend this place!

Jonathan was more than just a great host, he's also a great person. He went out of his way to make me feel at home. The room is a good size, has natural light and its own bathroom. It's a truly unique house with lots of open space for lounging. Jonathan helped build this house, has a lot of history and pride in the property, and you can see it. You'll see Jonathan working on the house, making ongoing improvements, none of which impede on the stay. The house is in a cul-de-sac... a walk, run or short drive to one of the hottest neighborhoods in LA. The house is walking distance to the Metro which goes directly to Union Station. I've stayed at other properties in Los Angeles as I get to know the area, and this has been by far the best stay, regardless of the very reasonable price. There's also ample street parking. I'll have fond memories of my time here. Thanks Jonathan!

Jonathan was a great roommate during the two months I spent at his house in Highland Park. I was in LA for work by myself, and had trouble finding places for a long-term stay. Jonathan's house was perfect for work, since I had my own bedroom and bathroom for a really good price. I felt totally welcome in the house, and especially loved the back deck with a view and the privacy of my own room. Jonathan is very laid back and his house has a comfortable atmosphere. The house is open, with lots of doors and windows that aren't always closed, but is surrounded by a securely fenced yard and courtyard. The immediate area of the neighborhood is super safe, and I felt fine coming home late at night and being in the house alone. There are grocery stores, great bars and restaurants, and freeway access very close by, and you can safely and easily walk to a Metro stop. Definitely recommend if you need to be in LA for a while!

I had a really great time staying with Jonathan in his Hilltop Hacienda. It's such an amazing house and the views over downtown LA were incredible, especially as the sun goes down. I was there for work and had a great desk to work on in the room, or alternatively you can sit in the sunshine out in the (URL HIDDEN) was definitely a welcome change from my UK office! The room is really nice and en-suite facilities were very convenient. Jonathan is such a cool guy, he's happy to let you do your thing or to go out for a beer. Highland Park is a really cool place too, lots of nice bars and ridiculously tasty Mexican food. I can't recommend this place enough!

We stayed for over a month with Jonathan who is a great host. His house is located in a quiet, "trendy" and "up and coming" neighborhood with easy access to transportation, a freeway close by and everything we needed. (barely 10 minutes to downtown by car). We enjoyed our stay and would book a stay with Jonathan again in a heartbeat.
