Very nice and cozy place. Hosts are very kind and're going to love the 2 dogs on the compound. The cottages are a bit darkish but then again, if you just intend to sleep there it's absolutely fine. It can get hot at night but the hosts offer a fan for a fee. Whi…

Emily's place is nice. There should be a better description of the house rules though as the host was scared to let two people (of the same sex) share a double room. This is fine but it is not advertised that the rooms can only be shared by a couple. There is also no back up gene…

Response from Emily:
Charles thanks for your review.Lets address some of the issues here publicly and privately. You booked on instant booking so therefore didn't check if you could share a double bed with your male friend/ (Website hidden by Airbnb) as frustrating as it is for everyone. This is Uganda and we have no choice but to abide by the law.In (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) parliament passed and act stating any form of sexual relations between persons of same sex or promotion or recognition of such relations are prohibited. The law has been substituted from life imprisonment to death penalty..i know you would be scared too.As liberal as we may be or feel on this subject from our personal life,we cannot break the law or appear to do anything unlawful.I am not sure your aware of implications but please (Hidden by Airbnb) as you could find yourself in hot water and punishment is severe.Nothing was personal against you or your friend/partner.We could see how upset you were and gave you another villa for 50% discount at $20 for the one night. You accepted.Personally I spoke to you about issues in this country before you checked out,you seemed to understand but maybe thought I was being difficult. When you booked on instant booking I sent you a message informing you of option to book another villa should you need one.You chose to ignore.Since you chose a one bedroom villa with a double bed.In Uganda, its not common practise for 2 grown unrelated men to share same bed as it's breaking the law.You insisted on it.We cannot break the law, simple. As shared please (Hidden by Airbnb) law in Uganda and respective countries. In terms of the other issues.Agreed you were unfortunate to experience a power cut due to emergency works in whole area.We dont advertise a generator.Your response was deceptive. You were not in the dark as you had emergency lights which are in all villas and you used them. You shared you had been to Africa for last 10 years so it was normal for you.Muyenga area is usually very good and all our reviews reflect that..Things happen welcome to Uganda.Addressing the laundry request. You arrived 5pm.We have a laundry service where clothes are hand-washed and ironed if requested. You booked 1 night. Our staff do not wash in evening and impossible to dry by (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) am check out.So hope that's clear. You broke a glass and owned up.Great but then left a torn shilling bill that was untenable under the broken glass.Thanks. All the Best.. Emily & Shane .

Emily and Shawn were outstanding hosts for myself and two colleagues over the span of 2 months. Some nice places to eat nearby and away from all the hustle and bustle makes it better in my opinion.

Our stay was very nice. The kitchen had the right amount of pots and pans, the bathroom was clean and I loved the rock wall in the shower. Shaine and Emily are welcoming and the kind of people you'd hope to find when using Airbnb.

Emily's place was homely. Great compound, lovely dogs and most importantly, a great family. I loved every minute of my stay. Shane was most helpful with directions. Great villas and I will be looking forward to staying there during my trips in Kampala.
