Tasteful and stylish 3.5 Brdrm/2 full bath house in Fire Island for WEEKLY rentals. Airy living room/dining area opens onto huge secluded deck garden with hot tub & heated swimming pool. Spa ambiance with haute-bohemian decor & professional lighting at night. Entire deck facing wall is sliding glass. The house faces south, so deck gets light all day long. As featured on the cover of the French DU JOUR magazine, Summer 2016.

The space

This Horace Gifford house is an architectural gem on the West end of the Pines. Located on a quiet, private, forested boardwalk, only minutes from the beach or the harbor; also just a short walk to Cherry Grove. Our walkway is one of the most beautiful on the island and is where Greta Garbo, Egon von Furstenberg and other celebrities owned houses in the 70s heydey. Beautifully furnished (Frank Gehry chairs in the dining room) with tasteful private art collection and studio lighting. The entire North wall is sliding glass doors with bedroom blackout shades that open onto a well-curated deck garden (year round flowering plants, water lilies, etc) with a heated swimming pool and hot tub. The entire property is surrounded by thick shrubs and trees for privacy and seclusion. Two bedrooms open onto the back deck; the two front facing bedrooms have floor to ceiling garden atriums with blackout curtains. One owner is a chef hobbyist, so the kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen appliances and cookware. There is a large gas grill on the deck as well. The house has amazing cross ventilation with sliding doors on both sides and ceiling fans in all rooms, and there is a fireplace for chilly nights. Indoor/Outdoor speaker system for playing music. There is one king-sized bed, two queen-sized beds, and a full-sized futon in the half bedroom. Two of the bedrooms have brand new flat screen TVs with DirectTV. Each bathroom has one indoor shower and one outdoor shower surrounded with a 10 ft. high privacy wall. This is available for WEEKLY (Fri-Fri) rentals only.
Please note that the house was built in 1957 and that I kept 100 % of its architectural integrity . It's perfectly maintained as much as u can maintain a wooden house from 1957 . If u are looking for something where everything's works like in à miami condo , pkease dont book this house . It's a old gem and has to be treated and considered as such .

Olivier's home is beautiful, a true gem in the Pines. We spent the majority of our time around the pool, which is perfect for lounging, outdoor meals and getting cozy with a good book. On a cool evening, we had a chance to lit the fire inside, which was a nice touch. Olivier was communicative and helpful in advance and we had everything we needed throughout. A treat!

Enjoyable visit. The house is terrific, and, as other reviews have suggested, the outdoor space (with pool) is the great amenity. Olivier and Rita were very responsive to questions throughout.

We had a wonderful time in Olivier's beautiful home. Located on a quiet Walk in the west end of the Pines ten minutes from the noise of the harbor, it affords complete privacy from the Walk and neighboring houses. House is classic Pines, designed by Horace Gifford. Three small but amply sized bedrooms have comfy beds and flank a large open living/eating area also open to the kitchen. Furniture is clean, chic, and appropriated. Two spacious bathrooms have large, wonderful outdoor showers for use in warm weather. A wall of sliding glass marries the indoors with the outside pool area so that you are essentially always poolside. Pool deck is planted with abundant greenery and creates the effect of a lush garden, with plenty of both sunny and shady areas. Pool is small and perfectly proportioned to the space. Not one for lap swimming but ample for floating and splashing around with friends and family (also heats up in a jiffy on cool nights). Jacuzzi is directly adjacent and seats four (more if you're friendly). Both Olivier and his housekeeper Rita were great, promptly and cheerfully answering my inquiries before we arrived, and also the many questions that naturally come up when staying in an unfamiliar house as we settled in. We could not have been happier with our stay, and hope to book again for next year. I highly recommend this house and owner. Thanks Olivier!

I am a frequent visitor to The Pines. For this trip, my husband and I wanted to share the experience with our family. A lovely time was had by all! The house fit us all comfortably, even my 6 month old baby niece (there was room for her crib in one of the bedrooms and ample space in the living room for any toys and her bouncy mobile). We also took out our dogs and they probably had more fun than we did! Olivier is an outstanding host, he was always available via phone and communicated clearly and effectively. The outdoor space is really wonderful. The pool was perfect for hot afternoons and there was a great table for folks to sit and eat lunch or dinner outside. Olivier has manicured a great garden by the pool, you can tell he takes pride in it. I also enjoyed how the outdoor space was fully covered by trees on all sides so we had lots of privacy. The house also came with 4 beach chairs and a plethora of towels (both beach and shower). The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, pots and pans, and we were able to cook many different fun meals throughout our stay. It was nice that they had a Nespresso machine which made morning coffee easy and quick (he was kind enough to let us know in advance so we could bring extra pods). Each of the 4 bedrooms had a ceiling fan or another fan to keep air circulating well. The nights got cool and with the fans, not having AC was no problem (most houses on the island do not have AC). My personal favorite part of the house were the two outdoor showers in each bathroom. They were well designed and a joy to shower in! The bathrooms were some of the best bathrooms I have seen on Fire Island. Another benefit of this home is that it is in a more secluded area of the Pines located on a dead end walk so there was no foot traffic. Everyone who lived around the house was super friendly. The island can be buggy at times so remember to bring bug spray! We would definitely stay here again!

The house is nice, but the back deck is amazing! Aside from a couple of minor issues in the house (bathroom light and sliding door not working), it was a great experience. Eric was extremely helpful throughout this process. Thanks for everything!

The house is situated conveniently on the west end of the Pines, making getting to the harbor or Cherry Grove fairly easy. We loved the secluded location, and felt like we were really in a little world all to ourselves. On our arrival we were met by the neighbor to get settled in and have a general tour of the home. The house itself is quite lovely and well laid out for a small group. There was some moderate wear and tear (lightbulbs out, issues with a bathroom door, etc) however overall we were quite pleased. The new pool and outdoor space was a highlight for our group and we made good use of the property-wide speaker system. Communication with Eric was easy and prompt. Overall a great place that we'd certainly consider booking again!
