Built as a brothel and saloon, this newly restored gem (featured in ABQ The Magazine) is truly unique: featuring adobe walls, original floor, high ceilings, long portal, and a fantastic outdoor space. If you're looking for an authentic New Mexican experience, this is the place for you. Tales of buried money, hidden rooms, and Billy the Kid are all waiting inside.

Guest access

The property has 3 casitas under one roof. The owner suite has a private patio and is located on the east end of the property. Guests can rent one of two casitas located in the middle of the property (a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom). The sleeping rooms are the original brothel rooms. The front entrance to both casitas are located on the south end under the portal. Each casita has patio seating under the portal and access to a common area with built-in seating, vintage swings, and a "Ball of Fire" fire pit.

Interaction with guests

I live on the east end of the property. I am co-founder of the Albuquerque Tourism & Sightseeing Factory, LLC (AT&SF) and hospitality is very important to me. Guests are welcome to ask for suggestions on anything local.

The Painted Lady is a most excellent place for a couples get away. Centrally located close to Old Town, Museums, downtown Albuquerque and quick access to both freeways. Accomodations were perfect and the history of the location made for great family conversation. We also loved gated parking, spacious patio with great amenities and our host Jesse who ensured everything was smooth and easy! Thank you...we'll be back!

Adorable grounds and unit. Great a/c about 1/2 a mile from downtown on an unassuming street. Once inside the gate it's awesome. Jesse was very accomadqting and quick to offer support or answer questions.

This is a wonderful spot to settle in for a few days stay. Jesse did an awesome job with renovating this historic property and making his guests feel at home. The yard space is gorgeous and the apartment did not leave me wanting more or missing any comforts of home. The location is convenient to getting around Albuquerque and other nearby spots and sights like Santa Fe, Madrid and Tent Rocks Nat'l Park. Jesse was quick to offer suggestions for great food and sights to see. Should my travels take me to Albuquerque again, this will be my first choice of accommodations!

The history of this property paired with modern interior design left a great first impression of New Mexico. In addition it was clean and very quiet at night.

Jesse User ProfileJesse is a superhost.

Co-founder of Albuquerque Tourism & Sightseeing Factory (AT&SF), I have the distinct pleasure of introducing people to Albuquerque. Born in ABQ, my love of the city started at a very young age. I fondly remember watching cartoons where Bugs Bunny made that famous wrong "left toin at Albukoykee." I felt a great sense of pride in this city and wanted to make sure that Bugs never got lost in Albukoykee again (hence the start of ABQ Trolley Co.). After a short stint as a ball boy for the UNM Lobos men's basketball team, my first paid job was selling concessions for the Albuquerque Dukes. I started on 50-cent hot dog night (yikes!). I love hosting visitors at my home, a renovated 19th Century brothel. I am also the proud owner of a three-legged dog named Bill Murray.
