Annie was waiting for us on arrival and everything was as per the listing. Annie was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. She is situated very close to the centre of town so walking everywhere was possible. We wou…

Annie's home is a great place to stay. I especially love the history of the building and the old photos. Anyone who likes historical building should not miss it. Annie is very nice and caring. I have no hesitation to recommend her house. She is indeed a super host!

Warm welcome into this family home in an interesting Georgian house. Annie was honest in her description but though the house is on a main road, we were not disturbed by traffic noise and were able to park overnight immediately outside.

Annie is a lovely person and the perfect host, relaxed, friendly and helpful. She is sociable if you like to chat and discreet if you prefer your own space. The house is spacious and welcoming although if you want somewhere that is spotlessly clean and where everything works perf…

Very pleasant place. Good breakfast. Good conversation. Fascinating old house, but be able to navigate multiple stairs and changes of level between rooms. Easygoing atmosphere. Some nighttime traffic noise, as it's on a main street.

Response from Annie:
Thank you, Mike for your review. I will add to the listing that there are three steps down into this bedroom and two steps up into the sitting room (and therefore the kitchen as this is off the sitting room). I do hope your poorly leg is getting better (injured a couple of months ago, not here!) With regard to the noise from the road, I am very clear in my listing that this room is on the main road. I did say to you that if the noise bothered you, then you should close the windows and use the fan, if necessary. When you left I noticed that you had only closed the secondary glazing and not the window itself. I do wish you had mentioned this when you were here as I could have closed both the window and the secondary glazing (which then affords good soundproofing) for you and you would have slept better during your four nights with us. Or I could have moved you to the Patterned Triple Room! Likewise, I wish you had mentioned that the steps troubled you as I would have happily moved you to the Patterned Tripled Room which you could see (open and ready for guests) adjacent to your room, which has no steps and gives on to the back of the house. Another time when you are staying in a host house, do talk to your host about any issues you may have! I hope you had a wonderful family reunion in Ireland. Thank you not only for your CD but also for the book and for your kind note.

I returned to Devizes in August 2014 after a year spent in gay Paree with my daughter where I taught English as a foreign language to adults. I am warm and friendly and run a welcoming and happy home. I have lived in Devizes for 26 years, bar the escapade in Paris, and know the t…
