This charming apartment was exactly what we wanted for our two week stay in Paris. It is just as the pictures depict – clean, newly renovated and airy with high ceilings. On the 6th floor (7th US with elevator), it looks down on the tin roofs and rooftop gardens and patios of nearby buildings. Natural light from the large French windows fills the apartment. The views are wonderful, and include the Montparnasse Tower as well as the spires of Notre Dame in the distance. Watching the rue below come to life everyday was fascinating!
Marie is a wonderful and gracious host, even offering to help in any way when it looked like the Air France pilot’s strike might leave us stranded without a plan (it all worked out). She made herself available to us, even though we didn’t need to bother her once we were settled in the apartment.
The apartment is equipped with washer, drying racks, microwave, full size refrigerator, stovetop, oven, espresso maker, iron and ironing board. There are also pots, pans and dishes. We made a few yummy in-house meals. Lots of linens, towels, shampoo, laundry soap, there’s even a small fireplace. The separate bedroom had the most comfortable queen + size bed, great to come home to after a day of adventures.
Located close to several boulangeries (for that daily baguette), flower shops, tons of restaurants, (if you like Italian-Tavola Di Gio is the best, there are even Sushi places sprinkled everywhere). The wonderful “Monoprix” – the mega grocery store with housewares and even clothes is a 5 min walk. The apartment is on theatre row, which brings a fun evening crowd to the area. If you are a light sleeper and go to bed early, just shut the bedroom window and the sound of the theatre letting out won’t be a problem. This area has some of the oldest and most renowned theatres in Paris. iBobino has hosted the likes of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Josephine Baker’s last performance. We kept the windows open and it was fine. We felt totally Francaise by the time we left.
The apartment is close to several Metro stops including Gare Montparnasse. Also two blocks away is a farmers market twice a week, as well as flea markets and art vendors on the weekend. The few times we needed a taxi, we just headed towards Gare Montparnasse (a 3 to 5 minute walk) and easily found one.
The space is very secure and safe (double door secure entry) and extremely comfortable for two people (even three – as our daughter joined us for a couple of days).
Our goal was to come and enjoy Paris like a native, and this apartment totally allowed us to do that. We highly recommend Marie and her beautiful apartment to anyone looking for a peaceful space central to so much of what Paris has to offer. We would totally stay here again!
