Comfort in the heart of Yogyakarta

We're a Dutch-Indonesian couple living in Yogyakarta. Recently our dream came true: we built our own Bed & Breakfast, an unique place in the heart of Yogya. We'd love to welcome you and share our excitement.

The space

JogjaDreams' unique mix between traditional and creative building techniques, using both modern and antique materials, is what excites most guests at first sight. Each corner, tile, door and brick of the bed and breakfast area has a story to tell, while the rooms are simple, spacious and equipped with brand new spring-bed mattresses and air conditioners. The clean warm water coming out of your shower is heated by the sun (100%) and brought up from an old well.

We have two rooms in total, so plenty of privacy always. Through this link you will be booking the Bromo room, our biggest room. If the Bromo room is fully booked, please check and see if the Merapi room is available, or just contact us through Airbnb.

Guest access

As a guest you have full access to the top-floor. An open space that stays cool and windy all day, due to the open design and Alderon roof.
Guests can use the kitchen upstairs and we serve free tea and coffee all day. But our house is always open and many guests start having breakfasts with us after a day or two. But we offer both: total privacy, or total hospitality, or somewhere in between of course, the choice is yours....and there's a little private library as well, with a table suitable for working, or calling friends back home online...

Interaction with guests

We speak English, Dutch, German, Indonesian, Javanese and a little bit of everything else. We have extensive knowledge about Yogyakarta and Indonesian culture. We can recommend a 1001 things for you to make your stay even more memorable.

Other things to note

We serve biological bread and local made confiture for breakfast. But my wife loves cooking up traditional Indonesian dishes for our guests as well. Try the bubur ayam, nasi goreng, mie goreng, opor ayam, or many of the other dishes Asian food orientated guests will adore. For some guests Nonie's breakfasts became the early highlight of the day. Nonie can cook you anything you like for breakfast... If you're really interested she's even willing to give you an Indonesian cooking course :)

Egbert and Nonnie do a great job of communicating before and during your stay. They provide easy-to-follow instructions on how to get to their home, and Nonnie spent 15 minutes with us when we arrived providing recommendations and discussing the city. The home is quite comfortable, even in the sweltering Yogyakarta heat. Guests have access to the upstairs (indoors but open air), and the bedroom is enclosed and has an AC unit. The shower always had hot water. The breakfasts Nonnie makes are delicious - she makes both Indonesian and Western cuisine. The home is in a very convenient but slightly touristy area. Overall, I would strongly recommend booking a stay here.

We had a wonderful stay with Egbert at Jogja Dreams! He and his wife Nonie were so kind and very helpful! From assisting us in booking a tour to packing a breakfast for the airport, their hospitality was warm and generous. We are grateful they shared their beautiful home and city with us!

Egbert was a fantastic host. He was warm and welcoming. I stayed with my wife and we enjoyed the stay. Rooms and Bathroom was neat and clean. The sitting area was nicely maintained. He has kept almost everything you would require for a stay. Egbert is very knowledgeable about the place and he has helped us to order dinner from a local shop. His wife Nonie has prepared a lovely breakfast for us. This place was exactly as mentioned in the description. Overall the stay was enjoyable. I wish if we could stay for few more days. I would recommend this to others as well.

Would recommend this place without a doubt. Jogjadreams is probably the best place to stay when you are in Yogyakarta. The location is convenient, the house feels like home as soon as you arrive and the hosts are absolutely amazing. The house is in a quiet street, but close to Prawirotaman street, which has a lot of nice bars and cafés. There are good places for beers, indonesian food and european food. The house itself has a good vibe. It is clean and cosy and there is a really cool relaxing area on the first floor. The room was nice and clean. However, the best thing about this place are the hosts. Noni and Egbert have been helpful and kind from before we arrived until after we left. They explained to our taxi driver how to get to their place, made us very good breakfast, offered free drinking water and told us a ton of interesting stories. They even found me a doctor when I became ill and came along to the doctor to translate! Groetjes en wie weet tot ziens, Youri & Janine
