About this listing
This recently renovated bungalow features high ceilings, hardwoods, and an artistic decor. Enjoy the sun deck, hot tub, mountain views, half-acre yard, and hidden grotto w/bar, grill, firepit, and waterfall. Quick access to all that San Diego has to offer!
Our house has an amazing history that connects back to WWII and Eastern Europe... More on that another time. We restored the place ourselves under the direction of my amazing master-carpenter husband. We kept part of the original character of the house and added our own contemporary twists. Our taste is eclectic and artsy: lots of books, artifacts, oddities, and photographs.
Guests may use the whole house, deck, hot tub, grotto/patio/bar. The garage and BR3 closet are off limits. The kitchen is well appointed and must be kept clean and free of food scraps/crumbs/spills if you want to keep your security deposit. The half-acre yard is open to you as well, including the new turf quadrangle, but be advised that there are gopher holes and dog droppings in some areas. The house has three bedrooms: master suite with Cali king bed, guest room with queen, and study with pull-out queen. Any groups over 5 people may feel cramped. The pull-out queen bed is adequate but not super comfy.
Interaction with guests
We may be in town, but likely we are taking our AirBnB earnings on the road while you are staying in our house.
Other things to note
You will need a car to get around our area. Unfortunately, public transport is not easy to access. Plenty of parking is available in the driveway. RV's and trailers would fit easily. The wide lower gate has a latch on the left that lifts straight up so you can slide the gate open. There is also a pedestrian gate that swings open for access on foot. The upper gate is a little tricky on warm days when the metal expands; the latch won't unhook unless you hoist the entire gate an inch or two as you're opening the latch.
This is our one and only house, so we expect that guests treat it gently and with respect. We require guests to keep all spaces clean and free of crumbs, spills, and waste. The house and yard are not childproofed, so we do not recommend booking if you have children under 12 in your group. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, so guests are not allowed to use our property for large parties.
I'm a photographer and teacher who likes to travel on a reasonable budget. I enjoy exploring the funkier side of each destination instead of just the top 10 sights. Spending time with locals is essential, too!
