The space

A stone's throw to the light rail, Fantoft stave church & Grieg's home, my lovely sunny apartment is a great spot to relax after a day out. Spacious & ideal for couples or families with a big lush garden to enjoy your meal, read or do your exercises!

My lovely sunny garden apartment is situated in one of Bergen´s finest suburbs with great access to town center and the must-see attractions of Troldhaugen, Gamlehaugen and Fantoft Stave Church.

Built in 1917 with original wooden features, the apartment is 78sqm and part of a large historical villa which used to house teachers of the nearby Rudolf Steiner school. It is situated on top of a small steep hill, so very sunny and has a large lush garden to relax in and is at the end of a small road, so no traffic noise. On site parking available. I rent out entire apartment or as share. Please ask!

Guests have use of the large bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room and the entire apartment. Please note, as I am often out and about, you'll have it all to yourselves for those just staying a day or so, but if you stay longer, I´ll need access to the apartment to see the cats, cook, wash etc and possibly stay in the spare bed. Please ask first to check! You are more than welcome to share my cooking and use my ingredients to make food. I also have a large tea selection from my travels, lots of nuts and seeds and usually some preserves/ferments. Fresh linen and towels also supplied.

No pressure here! I have travelled widely, so am happy to chat and help out if needed, or leave you to your own devices. When home I´m usually making food, reading/writing, combing fur-balls out of the fluffy cat or exercising outside in the garden. Your comfort is the priority. Join in or not!

Paradis is an established villa suburb located directly behind the Fantoft forest which boasts the famous Stave Church. A shortcut behind the house takes you there in a few minutes. 5 mins down the hill takes you to the light railway, which is just a 20min ride into town center and 25min ride to the airport.

A nice local deli/cafe, takeaway and supermarket are also a few mins walk away. One stop further on the railway, at Hop, you can walk to visit Edvard Grieg´s beautiful villa and gardens, Troldhaugen. Also close by is the stunning royal residence and gardens at Gamlehaugen where you can swim as well. Paradis is central, yet very peaceful. Please note that I live in a quiet suburb, so best suited for those wanting tranquility, not city hustle!

The Paradis Bybane (light rail) stop is located at the bottom of the hill, a few mins walk from the apartment. From there you can reach shopping centers in a few minutes (1 or 2 stops), either direction. Flesland airport is a 15mins drive away up the E39, or you can take the Bybane directly to airport as of May 2017 in 25mins.

There are nice walks in the immediate area as well, and the beautiful woodland area of Fantoft is immediately behind the property.

I have 2 special Norwegian Forest cats, and they come and go, but are mostly outside dwellers, sometimes away for many days at a time. They are not allowed in the bedroom, and can be excluded from the living areas by shutting the kitchen door if you don´t wish to have them around, but they are really lovely. If you have allergies then the apartment probably isn't suitable.

Should you arrive by car, our road is quite narrow and winds up the hill, so take your time! We have guest parking as well on the property.

WiFi is also connected throughout the villa.

Our stay at Tom's was just great. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. We found everything as decribed. Tom is a very sympatic and open person and handles things very umcomplicated. The neighboorhood is very peacefull so you can easily relaxe and calm down. I highly recommend Tom's apartment to every traveler who's staying in Bergen.

Tom is very friendly and helpful. The house sits on the top of a small hill and is outside the center. For a relaxing holiday far from the chaos is perfect. But much depends on the weather. You have to be lucky because unfortunately it often rains in Bergen

Tom's place was great! Cozy and comfortable, and although we're bummed we didn't get to meet Tom in person, he was incredibly accommodating and easy to get a hold of. We were also charmed by his sweet, sweet kitties. We had been missing our pup so it was nice to get to make a new furry friend. Easy to get to the light rail to access down town or the airport. We'd stay there again!

It was an amazing apartment. Actually better than the pictures! Tom was very helpful during our stay and kept asking about our comfort. He also gave us many useful tips. Strongly recommended!

Lovely but practical apartment with easy connection to downtown Bergen via tram. Tom had things well prepared and had good information about using the apartment. Apt a little hard to find as the unit number was hidden by shrubbery. W&D a real plus but give yourself plenty of time since it is a single unit.

Hi there! I´m a laid-back New Zealander, living in beautiful Bergen. I work as an anthropologist/writer with current interest in the philosophy of movement & physicality. More on this on Instagram @primalmovers. On the weekends I'm a barman in town. Love to travel, read, cook, swim, exercise in nature, meet people and learn new things like mastering the handstand. Always happy to meet travelers and help share this lovely city and provide tips on what to see and do.

I´m very active and have a lot of training equipment and ideas which you are welcome to use, also I can assist as much as I can if you need to be met at station or upon arrival. I always make wholesome food and have a steady supply of kombucha and beet juice, as well as a Nespresso Lattissima Pro and my beloved La Pavoni espresso machine - all of which you are most welcome to enjoy.

Please let me know your specific needs such as arrival times, number of guests etc and I'll be happy to accommodate! I stay nearby when guests stay, so can assist as needed (please note, my 2 cats live here and fully included if about!)
