As your Kauai host, I’m at your service!

The space
You’ll feel right at home in this well-stocked, full-functioning two bedroom, two bathroom condo. The unit size is 1020 square feet plus patio areas. Outside lawns, pool, ocean bluffs and trails are yours to enjoy, too.

The king size beds are very comfortable. The living room seating is, too. The art and decor exude local Kauai’an, classic Hawaiian and Pacific Ocean vibes.

You’ll enjoy fast Wi-Fi, Cable, Netflix, DVD classics, Bluetooth speaker, yoga mats, diverse books on all topics, Hawaiian novels and history books, Vegan cookbooks, Hawaiian magazines, playing cards and more.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all tools, supplies and amenities including spices, coffee filters, dish soap, dishwasher soap, new sponges, paper towels, multiple dish towels and more.

The two full bathrooms are each fully stocked with ample towels, toilet paper rolls, refillable shampoo, conditioner and bodywash jugs — (no tiny throwaway bottles that choke turtles)! There is also bar soap, makeup remover wipes, hair dryers, a flat iron, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and more.

The washer/dryer is in hall closet. Detergent supplied. Iron and ironing board are in large bedroom closet.

The discreet back patio is bursting with views and facing sunset! Guests love the bistro setup and relaxed seating.

All ages enjoy the ground floor ease to roll in and out and feel at one with the back lawn, back valley, Bali Hai view and endless skyline.

The kitchen and bathrooms have big granite counters for easy prepping and primping.

There are full showers and full tubs (rare these days) in both bathrooms! Each bathroom connects as an ensuite to a bedroom. But one also opens to the hall — so night owls in your group can access without disturbing those sleeping.

There is soft carpeting for stretching and doing yoga.

All rooms have overhead fans and easy-open windows. There are also multiple portable fans: one small, one rotating, one square and one super high-end tower fan that cools things incredibly!!!

One reminder though:
NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!

Guest access
The full condo, front beach closet & back lanai/patio are all yours alone! There are super convenient hoses in front and back of unit to wash your feet, bodies and other items.

There’s also open parking for multiple cars right outside your door!

The rest of the resort area is yours to share with other Ali’i Kai I and II guests.

This includes Ali’i Kai II’s beautifully renovated pool area with sparkling swimming pool, roomy jacuzzi with jets, wading pool, state-of-the-art BBQs, lounge chairs, outdoor dining tables and chairs, poolside shower, restrooms and bargain cooler ice bags for $1.

You’ll also enjoy the convenience of an industrial trash bin and recycling bin in parking lot. This makes cleaning out your car a breeze!

The sprawling lawns and walking paths around the scenic bluffs are yours to share with Ali’i Kai I and II guests. Ali’i Kai I residents have their own pool though and ask Ali’i Kai II guests not to sit in their green chairs on the front bluffs. You’re welcome to sit on the soft grass though.

While walking the grounds, look for wild guava trees, enjoy the scent of plumerias and Tahitian gardenias called tiares and a huge aloe vera plant.

Many of the birds you will see and hear are nenes, two varieties of cardinals, myna birds and shamas.

From the ocean bluffs, you can look down at turtles swimming on the reef and whales breaching out much further (but only between November and March).

You can also look down from the bluff at a black rock wonderland with natural waterfall. Between buildings 5 and 6 of Ali’i Kai I, there is also a steep slippery trail (requiring strength and agility to climb) leading to The Turtle Cave. If you are not in condition for this trail, just enjoy knowing those sweet turtles are nearby! Then watch them swim from up above. :)

Additionally, we have a front office (near entrance) to book activities and to rent bikes or boogie boards. There is also a fabulous Resident Manager, named Mike Wilson. But contact me first, as I’m always at your service.

Other things to note
-4 person max.

-1 Pac ‘n Play available, per advanced request.

-If you have a late night flight out, consider booking an extra day.

Location

Princeville, Hawaii, United States

Beautifully manicured Ali’i Kai is nestled on the rim of an ocean bluff and lush valley. We enjoy immense tranquility, two blocks from Princeville’s thoroughfare called Ka Haku Road. We are a bit famous for our Turtle Cave, below. But we remain a low-key, low-profile, low-density complex with less glitz and more serenity.

The township we are in, called Princeville, is an ocean-bluff feast for the senses with mind-bending coastal & mountain views. You’ll stop & stare in your tracks — in the mornings, in the evenings, during rainbows & sunsets & after rainstorms that birth waterfalls!

Princeville sits high above the sea, five miles before classic Hanalei Bay and 10 miles past hip Kilauea town. Princeville is a visitor destination area (VDA) where vacation rentals are generally legal.

Princeville has become more vibrant than ever, especially thanks to our new shuttles and revitalized walking and biking path leading to scenic overlooks, beach paths, restaurants, Foodland Shopping Center, a new Saturday Farmer’s Market, Makai Golf Course, tennis courts (Makai and HBR), hotels like The Westin and Princeville Resort (currently closed for renovation), a community playground and library, the gas station, athletic studios (Waves Yoga Studio and Fit Lab Gym), bus stops and more.

Other nearby attractions are Princeville Ranch with horseback and ATV riding, zip lining and more.

Beaches in walking distance are Turtle Cave (steep muddy cliff then rocks), Hideaways (steep cliff w/stairs), Anini (steep cliff) and Princeville Resort Beach (outside public stairs to left of resort). *The Princeville Resort is currently closed for renovation.

Beaches in closest driving distance on North and NE Shores include Hanalei Bay (Pier, Pavilion, Cape, Pinetrees, Bathrooms, Grandpas and Middles), Anini, Waikokos, Lumihai, Secrets, Kalihiwai, Rock Quarry, Moloaa, Anahola.

Other gorgeous beaches on the far North include Hā’ena, Tunnels, *Ke’e and Hanakapia’i (two miles in along The Kalalau Trail).

*Due to COVID, The North Shore Shuttle is not currently running consistently.

*Parking in the Ke’e Beach Lot (whether to swim or hike up Hanakapia’i Trail) requires pre-booking of a parking pass on the Kauai Government Page.

*Overnight parking there is not an option.

*To hike into and camp at Kalalau, please book your camping reservations early on the Kauai Government site. Next, book an Uber or cab to drop you off and pick you up. https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/parks/kauai/haena-state-park/

A few stand-out beaches on the East are Donkeys, Kealia, Lydgate and Kalapaki.

A captivating spot for bird lovers is The Kilauea Lighthouse.

An adventurous beach for hikers is Secrets Beach.

A can’t-miss for families is Anaina Hou Community Park with its Miniature Golf Course, Playground and Botanical Gardens.

Note: All commercial flights are through Lihue Airport, which is approximately an hour from Princeville. There are only privately-chartered flights to/from Princeville Airport at this time.

Note: There are three windows per day to drive to Hanalei due to the hillside renovation projects. Schedules may change.

Aloha! I am Holly, of The Watson Ohana, and I’m excited to be your host. I’ve created this Airbnb account to help my family rent two vacation rentals here on the north shore of Kauai. As a family, we Watsons started visiting close friends in Hanalei, Kauai in the ‘80s. We were lucky to buy a home here by the mid ‘90s. We currently have two homes that we periodically vacation rent to guests. 1. Hanalei Home - 4bd/3ba 2. Princeville Condo - 2bd/2ba In the past, we asked management companies to host for us. But now I directly host the 2-bedroom condo in Princeville by myself. I’m grateful to be able to share these homes along with my knowledge of Kauai with you! I will try my hardest to ensure that your stay is fabulous! It’s been going well, and I’m receiving lovely feedback from wonderful guests!! Still, I’m constantly learning and trying to get better at everything! My goal is to help each guest have their best stay possible and write 5 stars for everything across the board. I aim to please and will work hard to do so. Many mahalos for reading... and hopefully for booking! Sincerely, Holly Watson
